| Taken outside the gate of Syncrude Canada Ltd gates on the highway in Fort McMurray, Alberta Canada | Taken just down the road from the first one at a tourist point to show the large bucket wheel excavator, one of four, that were in use at Syncrude Canada Ltd. Before truck and shovel methods were proven more efficent although one of these big monsters are still in use. This one, in particular, has the most buckets on one wheel and happened to be operated by my father for 20 yrs before its retirement (the bucketwheel) in 2001. |
