Greyhound Van Lines from the Chicago area was one of the early long time coast to coast moving outfits that during the late 1970's either was bought out by or merged with Smyth Van Lines from the Seattle area and was renamed Smyth Greyhound for a short time before disappearing permantely from America's highways. I really liked the running Greyhound dog they used as their mascot. This was taken in 1976 at Terminal Stations. I'm not familiar with this fleet which looks like MT M something Trucking but I was able to catch him stopped on the shoulder of Southbound U.S. 5 in front of a McDonald's in W. Springfield in 1974.
A very colorful White Freightliner leased to West Coast Truck Lines from Eugene, OR parked next to a Marmon COE leased to a John F. Ivory Van Lines agent at Terminal Stations in 1976. Not sure of where he was from but it was taken during summer 1974 at the Springfield farmers market. B.B. Walker Shoe Co. Asheboro, NC Summer 1974 at Westfield, MA Hojo's. We have here a White Freightliner leased to CFX, Coldway Food Express from Sidney, OH and a KW leased on with MEFS, Midwest Emery Freight System, Chicago waiting to unload in downtown Springfield, MA back in the summer of 1974. This White Freightliner was passing by Terminal Stations Texaco on W. bound I-80 back in June 1976. During harvest season in California's Central Valley even L.T.L. fleets like Oakland, CA based Delta Lines got in on some extra revenue activities with this Transtar whose driver pulled into Terminal Stations to "chow down" sometime during the fall 1975 harvest.
Insured Transporters from San Leandro, CA operated a wide variety of manufacturers nameplates in their fleet of power units. Eastbound I-80 behind the Muffin Treat Restaurant near Fairfield, CA was the location of this shot. I'm not sure why I took this photo other than maybe to show the Jubitz Truck Stop logo on the mudflaps of this flatbed stopped at Terminal Stations in April 1976. Here's a Republic Van Lines agent at Terminal Stations in April 1976. They had an interesting logo with the "Big Quack" flying in front of the sun.
