I just got passed by this livestock truck w/pull trailer in my 72 Chevy C-10 pickup on N.B. CA 99 somewhere North of Lodi, CA in early 1976. This Pete and KW COE were parked at the Muffin Treat along I-80 near Fairfield, CA during the fall of 1975. IH Transtar & KWCOE for Atlas at Terminal Stations in late 1975 NACA out of Ontario, OR at Terminal Stations in late 1975 This orange FL/COE belonged to Van Gas a propane distributor out of Elk Grove, CA was at Terminal Stations when a Neptune World Wide Moving half a world away from it's Northern NJ 10-20 pulled in next to it in late 1975

One of Midwestern Distribution's FL/COE's from Ft Scott, KS next to a Schaldach can hauler IH from the Oakland, CA area at a W. Sacramento, CA Shell stop along former I-80 now Business Route I-80 in late 1976. This IH 4300 pulling out from under the Terminal Stations pumps in late 1975 was leased to Curtis, Inc. based in Denver, CO. Johnson Transfer was the Allied agent this nice looking FL/COE was leased to in late 1975 when I found him at Terminal Stations.

Livestock haulers always facinated me, especially West Coast type set ups like this unidentified Pete COE that was parked at Terminal Stations in late 1975. This was a common practice of having a forklift place the pull trailer on top of the bed of the truck after a rig unloaded at a CA lumberyard before the driver headed back to Oregon or Northern California to pick up another load of milled lumber to bring South again. This sharp purple KW was patiently waiting for it's driver to come back out of the Muffin Treat Restaurant near Fairfield,CA during the summer of 1976.

Guthmiller Trucking "can van" mixed in with two container haulers rolling W.B. on I-80 at Fairfield, CA in 1976 This O/O hauling a can van for Boise Cascade was getting some "java" at the Muffin Treat near Fairfield during 1976 Here's an intersting lineup at some cafe along CA 99 in the Central Valley somewhere between Stockton and the S. side of Sacramento. The exact location eludes me for some reason.

This group was stopped at Terminal Stations in 1977. The KW COE on the far left belonged to Wells Cargo oout of Reno, NV and the green GMC COE was owned by food distributor S.E. Rycoff. This IH-4200 was picking up a load of reclaimed fuel from one of the fuels bulk storage area's at Travis AFB, CA sometime during 1977. That building in the background is the former David Grant Medical Facility. This KW for Texaco was delivering a load of gasoline to the Travis AFB base gas station in early 1976 with a brand new trailer

Two flatbeds stopped at Terminal Stations in 1976. This was the last/first truck stop with any amount of parking area for rigs headed into or out of the Bay Area on I-80 & I-680 back in the mid-late 70's. So there was a constant flow of rigs coming and going from it when I was stationed at Travis AFB. The unidentified Pete COE auto hauler was taken in 1976 at Terminal Stations. Notice the single tires on the trailer and the Willy's Jeep at the aft end of the load. Ag hauler Adams Trucking out of Woodland, CA was also headed into Panty hose Junction in April 1976.

This sharp KW was leased onto Curtis, Inc. from Denver, CO and was posing nicely while stopped at Terminal Stations. I-505 served as the short cut from I-5 into the Bay Area and was being 4 laned in the mid 70's when I snapped these clamshell aggregate haulers pulling doubles in the constuction zone through the windshield of my 72 Chevy pickup. The Pete COE livestock hauler belonged to Sanzberro Livestock Transportation from some town in California's Central Valley. He had just exited off of S.B. I-5 at Dunnigan and crossed over the top of I-5 headed for the "Panty hose Junction" truck stop as it was known because of the short skirts and panty hose all the waitresses wore.

The two KW COE's had pulled into Terminal Stations either just before or just after loading up at the Fairfield, CA Budweiser brewery in 1976 Armour Oil Company out of San Diego ran a clean fleet of these KW's during the mid-late 70's. These two were offloading diesel fuel at Travis AFB, CA in 1976. These O/O's leased on with Bekins and Cartwright Van Lines were layed over at Terminal Stations sometime during 1976.

Here's an unidentified F/L COE and Mack Western patiently awaiting the return of their drivers during 1976 at Terminal Stations. A mechanic shot it in early 1975 when I was 17 at West Springield, MA when I saw this Old El Paso rig stopped for mechanical work. This nice looking KW was layed over at a motel in Fairfield, CA near the Budweiser brewery during Nov. 1977.

The Allied Van Lines agent W Ford was taken in Sept. 1976 on the passenger car side parking lot of the Muffin Treat along I-80 near Fairfield, CA. The lineup at Terminal Stations was sometime during 1977. Unidentified Pete 359 stopped at Terminal Stations during 1977

Minnesota based D & T Trucking Astro at a Springfield, MA motel in early 1974 Poultry processor Holly Farms from N. Wilkesboro, NC ran a large private fleet for many years until they were acquired by Tyson Foods during the early 90's I believe the time frame was. I shot this KWCOE at the Springfield, MA farmer's market complex in early 1975. Leaseway Transportation unit Mitchell Transport parked in the snow at the Westfield, MA Howard Johnson's in early 1974

Unidentified Freightliner reefer from a reefer fleet that I think was based in Oklahoma. The picture was taken along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield, MA during 1974 Elizabethtown, PA was the "home 20" for this W Ford for ag co-op Agway that was resting while it's driver did likewise at the Westfield, MA Hojo's in early 1974. During the 70's Agway had a fairly large distribution center in Westfield that Agway rigs from all over the N.E. U.S. would come load up at. GMC Astro at Terminal Stations Cordelia, CA in late 1975.

Here is a classic New England White Road Boss that belonged to Great Eastern Packing and Paper Stock from "Beantown" Boston, MA. I came across it while on my 10 speed bike at Old Colony Envelope in downtown Westfield, MA during summer 1973 when it was almost brand new. Ryder Truck Lines Road Boss at the W. Springfield motel in early 1974 that alot of L.T.L.'s would park at while on their rest time that was located where U.S. 20 & U.S. 5 intersected.

1976 during a training session for us G.I's at one of the fuels storage area's on Travis AFB Lucky Food Stores Freightliners taken at the Muffin Treat near Fairfield, CA in 1976. The F/L COE at the right edge belongs to Lucky Lager Beer I think it was called. An O/O with a IH Emeryville conventional leased on with Mitchell Bros. Truck Line from Oregon and the GMC Astro appears to be leased on with Dealers Transit out of Chicago from what I can make out of the logo on the drivers door. That was also shot sometime during 1976 @ Terminal Stations

Here's an O/O leased on with K.A.T. (Kenosha Auto Transport) boat hauling division park along side MA Route 147 in W. Springfield, MA in early 1975. This United Van Lines KW I found at the former Shine Inn Hotel at X-6 of the Mass Pike in Chicopee early in 1975 I believe this is a Flexi-Van Truck Rental F Mack with a Gil-Flex rental box hooked to it parked at the Valley View Diner where U.S. 5 & I-91 connect in W. Springfield, MA vintage 1974.

Flexi-Van Truck Rental was based out of New Haven, CT. This unit was either leased or rented out to a building materials supplier that was delivering to a construction site along U.S. 202 in Westfield, MA in the Summer of 1973. A small fleet called Regional out of Hartford, CT operated this Brockway COE which was at a W. Springfield, MA Thermo King dealer for service in the fall of 1974. Yellow Freight System Astro was layed over at a motel on U.S. 202 near their Westfield, MA terminal during the summer of 1973

W. F. Lande, Inc Intertnational from Ria Vista, CA taken at Terminal Stations on I-80 at Cordelia, CA This shot of the Bekins IH Transtar and P.I.E. tanker was taken at the 49er 78 Auto/Truckstop in April 1976. Mack flatbed truck and trailer taken in the spring 1976 at Terminal Stations.

Rocha Livestock Transportation from Oakdale, CA has been in business for many years and has diversified into hauling other types of freight over the years. United Van Lines White Road Commander and Kenworth and an unidentified Peterbilt taken in the spring 1976 at Terminal Stations.

This was an almost brand new Ford CL-9000 that was at the former Courtesy House 76 Auto Truck Stop near Vero Beach, FL the first week of Jan. 1979. An O/O by the name of Fremie McMurray from a small hamlet in NC ran this snazzy looking C model Ford the first week of Jan 1979 when I caught hime at the Courtesy House 76. A Vero Beach O/O owned this Dodge 900 that was in later years jazzed all up real nice like. I shot him where he use to park near Indian River Truck Brokerage W. of Vero Beach on FL Route 60 during 1981.

This GMC 9500 belonged to United Transports from Oklahoma City, OK. I shot it while I was on temporary duty at Robert Gray Army Airfield near Killeen, TX in Jan. 1979. This sharp KW was leased on with Branch Motor Express' special commodities div. and stopped along U.S. 202 N. of Westfield, MA during summer 1974. Coleco Toys based in central NY State and was a regular runner across the Mass. Pike. This F/L was also at the Marquis Texaco the same day as the Momsen KW was in early 1974.

I caught this Lane Construction Pete COE from Meriden, CT as I pulled out of the toll booth at Exit 3 of The Mass Pike in 1974. This KWCOE was leased to Momsen from Dubuque, IA and was taken while he was parked along U.S. 5 in front of the Marquis Texaco in W. Springfield, MA early in 1974.

These two dump haulers were both operated by Henry W. Lanciani out of some town in Eastern Mass. They had stopped at the A & W Root Beer stand along U.S. 202 near downtown Westfield, MA in early 1974. A brand new IH Transtar II for what looks like Nans Express, Inc. from Philadelphia, PA hooked to a trailer with Blue Bird Orange Juice markings on it. He was offloading in downtown Springfield, MA in early 1975.

This Pete COE was leased on with Schanno Transportation based near the Twin Cities in MN. I shot him on Union Street in W. Springfield, MA during 1974. There was a Const. equipment auction going near Holyoke, MA in 1973 and saw this Diamond Reo parked across the street from it on U.S. 202. Hillside Motor Lines was a longtime Reefer fleet from Orange, CT. I came across this Pete COE during 1974 at the Springfield, MA farmer's market complex.

Springfield motel where alot of L.T.L.'s use to frequent where U.S. 5 & U.S. 20 interesected in 1974. Two Pete Livestock haulers for Ferrara Meat Co. Unidentified Peterbilt flatbed taken at Terminal Stations along I-80 at Cordelia, CA in the fall of 1975 White Freightliner with the Wide Load banner was leased to J. H. Rose Truck Lines out of Houston, TX taken at Terminal Stations along I-80 at Cordelia, CA in the fall of 1975 Shelton Oil from Suisun City, CA I believe was acquired by Telfer Tank Lines out of Martinez, CA.

This C & L Truck Leasing Ford was waiting to unload at Sterling Radiator the same afternoon as the Crane D/R COE. Crane was some sort of an industrial parts supplier as I found this Diamond Reo offloading at Sterling Radiator Co. in downtown Westfield, MA sometime during the winter of 1973-74. Dealers Transit out of Chicago operated this IH Transtar that was layed over at the Westfield, MA Hoho's in late 1973. In the background you can see the Exit 3 tollbooth for the Mass Turnpike painted it's traditional Irish green.

P.B. Mutrie from Waltham, MA had mostly company owned power so I guess this was a rare find to come across this then new White Road Commander early in 1974 along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield, MA This unidentified W-1000 Ford was parked at the Valley View Diner at U.S. 5 & I-91 in W. Sprinngfield, MA in early 1974.

Lea Furniture from not sure where was layed over along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield in early 1974. Midwestern Express,Inc. from Ft Scott, KS was stopped on U.S. 20 in Westfield, MA prior to picking up a load of Strathmore Paper products in 1974. This nice looking KW was leased on with TCE, Trans-Cold Express out of Dallas, TX and was off-loading meat at the Springfield, MA farmer's market complex in early 1974.

Rocha Livestock Transportation from Oakdale, CA has been in business for many years and has diversified into hauling other types of freight over the years.	United Van Lines White Road Commander and Kenworth and an unidentified Peterbilt taken in the spring 1976 at Terminal Stations.


This was an almost brand new Ford CL-9000 that was at the former Courtesy House 76 Auto Truck Stop near Vero Beach, FL the first week of Jan. 1979.	An O/O by the name of Fremie McMurray from a small hamlet in NC ran this snazzy looking C model Ford the first week of Jan 1979 when I caught hime at the Courtesy House 76.	A Vero Beach O/O owned this Dodge 900 that was in later years jazzed all up real nice like. I shot him where he use to park near Indian River Truck Brokerage W. of Vero Beach on FL Route 60 during 1981.

This GMC 9500 belonged to United Transports from Oklahoma City, OK. I shot it while I was on temporary duty at Robert Gray Army Airfield near Killeen, TX in Jan. 1979.	This sharp KW was leased on with Branch Motor Express' special commodities div. and stopped along U.S. 202 N. of Westfield, MA during summer 1974.	Coleco Toys based in central NY State and was a regular runner across the Mass. Pike. This F/L was also at the Marquis Texaco the same day as the Momsen KW was in early 1974.

I caught this Lane Construction Pete COE from Meriden, CT as I pulled out of the toll booth at Exit 3 of The Mass Pike in 1974.	This KWCOE was leased to Momsen from Dubuque, IA and was taken while he was parked along U.S. 5 in front of the Marquis Texaco in W. Springfield, MA early in 1974.

These two dump haulers were both operated by Henry W. Lanciani out of some town in Eastern Mass. They had stopped at the A & W Root Beer stand along U.S. 202 near downtown Westfield, MA in early 1974.		A brand new IH Transtar II for what looks like Nans Express, Inc. from Philadelphia, PA hooked to a trailer with Blue Bird Orange Juice markings on it. He was offloading in downtown Springfield, MA in early 1975.

This Pete COE was leased on with Schanno Transportation based near the Twin Cities in MN. I shot him on Union Street in W. Springfield, MA during 1974.	There was a Const. equipment auction going near Holyoke, MA in 1973 and saw this Diamond Reo parked across the street from it on U.S. 202.	Hillside Motor Lines was a longtime Reefer fleet from Orange, CT. I came across this Pete COE during 1974 at the Springfield, MA farmer's market complex.

Nomeco Building Specialties Ford Louisville at a motel along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield during 1974.	This unidentified Ford W-1000 was at the W. Springfield motel where alot of L.T.L.'s use to frequent where U.S. 5 & U.S. 20 interesected in 1974.	Two Pete Livestock haulers for Ferrara Meat Co. Inc taken at Terminal Stations along I-80 at Cordelia, CA in the fall of 1975

Unidentified Peterbilt flatbed taken at Terminal Stations along I-80 at Cordelia, CA in the fall of 1975	White Freightliner with the Wide Load banner was leased to J. H. Rose Truck Lines out of Houston, TX taken at Terminal Stations along I-80 at Cordelia, CA in the fall of 1975	Shelton Oil from Suisun City, CA I believe was acquired by Telfer Tank Lines out of Martinez, CA.

This C & L Truck Leasing Ford was waiting to unload at Sterling Radiator the same afternoon as the Crane D/R COE.	Crane was some sort of an industrial parts supplier as I found this Diamond Reo offloading at Sterling Radiator Co. in downtown Westfield, MA sometime during the winter of 1973-74.	Dealers Transit out of Chicago operated this IH Transtar that was layed over at the Westfield, MA Hoho's in late 1973. In the background you can see the Exit 3 tollbooth for the Mass Turnpike painted it's traditional Irish green.

P.B. Mutrie from Waltham, MA had mostly company owned power so I guess this was a rare find to come across this then new White Road Commander early in 1974 along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield, MA	This unidentified W-1000 Ford was parked at the Valley View Diner at U.S. 5 & I-91 in W. Sprinngfield, MA in early 1974.

Lea Furniture from not sure where was layed over along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield in early 1974.	Midwestern Express,Inc. from Ft Scott, KS was stopped on U.S. 20 in Westfield, MA prior to picking up a load of Strathmore Paper products in 1974.	This nice looking KW was leased on with TCE, Trans-Cold Express out of Dallas, TX and was off-loading meat at the Springfield, MA farmer's market complex in early 1974.
