Here is an IH Transtar II that the driver told me he runs Alaska with taken in W. Sacramento, CA right off I-80 Business Route in Feb. 1977. Here's a tough looking old girl that belonged to the Florida Army National Guard transportation unit out of Lakeland, FL that was layed over at our fuels yard at Patrick AFB, FL while out on manuevers in the mid 1990's. Also at Terminal Stations were this IH Transtar for Hines Wholesale Nursery and a Marmon COE leased on with John F. Ivory Van Lines out of Detroit, MI

7/11 Stores parent Co. The Southland Corp. use to operate a private fleet to serve their convience stores called Southland Distribution Center. I shot these Transtars from Orlando layed over in 1982 at Ft Pierce by the Florida Turnpike exit/entrance ramp. Here's one from BC a Zenith pulling a Super Valu reefer taken in April 1976 at a West Sacramento, CA truck stop along I-80 Business Route. Here is an interesting livestock combination unit that I found in March 1976 at the Jimco Truck Stop along CA 99 near Ripon, CA (N. of Modesto). Perhaps some livestock fan can explain this type of setup to us fellow truck buffs.

This Mobile Chapel was at Terminal Stations, thought it was a pretty sharp looking F Model Mack. Mural Transport was kind of a rare sight way out in West Sacramento, CA that I came across in April 1977 at a small truck stop along Business I-80. Here are two classic looking White Freightliners with matching paint jobs stopped at the Fairfield, CA Muffin Treat Restaurant in 1976. Not sure what kind of cargo it was they were hauling, but like the paint jobs it matched.

Carborundum was a regular visitor to my Hometown of Westfield, MA when I was growing up. This was shot at the Howard Johnsons parking lot by Exit 3 of the Mass Pike in 1974. This orange and white Pete COE was leased to Crete Carrier Corp from Lincoln, NE that I came across in one of my countless trips to the Springfield, MA farmers market complex in 1974. Sharp and clean R Mack for Fort Edward Express based in Fort Edward, NY that was stopped at the Valley View Diner in W. Springield, MA during the summer of 1974.

IH Transtar belonged to Union Cartage from Worcester, MA and was taken in 1974 at the Valley View Diner where U.S. 5 & I-91 meet in West Springfield, MA. The big blue Kenworth K100 H, Hammermill Paper from Erie, PA was the parent company to Strathmore Paper from Westfield, MA. I found tractor #40 parked just down the road from the Strathmore plant in early 1974. Krajack Tank Lines from Roselle Park, NJ use to deliver to Ashland Chemicals near Exit 3 of the Mass Pike. This R Mack was layed over at the Westfield Howard Johnsons in early 1974.

As soon as I passed my road test and got my drivers license I immediately went out looking for trucks to photograph with my newly awarded freedom to drive by myself. I could cover Much bigger circles than my 10 speed bike for sure. I remember this was the first truck I found an O/O leased on with Safeway Truck Lines from Indiana stopped in front of the church our family attended in Westfield, MA in Feb. 1974. This KW was unloading at the Springfield, MA farmers market sometime during the winter of 1973-74. Andrews Van Lines who specialized in military moves and based in Norfolk, NE was posed nicely at the Cordelia, CA Terminal Stations along I-80 in 1976.

Berry from Shawneetown, IL was a bakers supplies hauler as I always use to see them delivering to the former Ft Pierce Flowers Bakery complex. This was taken sometime in 1981 at the bakery receiving dock. Caribou Four Corners was out of Utah somewhere. I saw this Freightliner unit parked in W. Sacramento, CA during the summer of 1981. This Central Milling Co. KW from Utah hooked to this Arizona Sun Flour trailer and was shot while stopped along West Capitol Blvd (Business I-80) in West Sacramento, CA in 1976.

J.E. Fortin was parked out front of the Ft Pierce Howard Johnson's in 1982. Leprino Foods from Chappell, NE and Denver, CO. This Pete was parked at the former Ft Pierce, FL Howard Johnson's in 1982 which was torn down to make way for a Pilot Truck Stop. These two Safeways and Golden Grain Macaroni Pete COE were resting while their drivers ate inside the Muffin Treat near Fairfield, CA along I-80 in 1976.

United Grocers from Richmond, CA with the White Freightliner and Coast Lines based somewhere in the SF Bay area with the orange H model Ford were offloading at a warehouse on Travis AFB, CA in 1976. This clean looking GMC Astro for Archway was at a motel along U.S. 5 in West Springfield, MA in 1974 This unit was leased onto Jeffries Trucking from Oklahoma City, OK and was taken at Barnes Airport in Westfield, MA in 1973.

These rigs were parked at the Westbound Mass Turnpike service plaza near Blandford, MA in 1974. Leaseway Transportation unit Mitchell Transport out of Cleveland, OH was on the "hook" when I caught it at the Westfield, MA Howard Johnsons in early 1974. A IH Transtar lettered D & N Truck leasing at the Springfield, MA farmers market in 1974.

Found this Diamond Reo possibly leased to Ellsworth stopped along the road that serves the Sprinfield, MA farmers market in 1974. This O/O leased to National Carriers from Liberal, KS was unloading at Lewis Beef in Springfield, MA in 1974. Sunbury Transport from Woodstock, NB waiting to enter onto the Mass Turnpike at Westfield, MA in 1973. That's the Howard Johnson's I use to take alot of photos and cook at before I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1975.

Came across this choice opportunity on this sharp Pete 351 for an American Red Ball agency at the Terminal Stations Texaco in Cordelia, CA in 1976. Here is the only picture I was ever able to get of a Fernstrom Moving System rig that was based at or near Chicago, IL. I shot this in 1977 as he was pulling out of where he had stopped at the Muffin Treat along I-80 near Fairfield, CA. Was the best I could do on an impulse. This White Freightliner was lettered something Express from what looks like Vidalia, GA on the cab. He was at the Springfield, MA farmers market complex in 1974.

BTC (Billings Trucking Corp.) was a furniture hauler out of North Carolina. They were purchased by some holding co. I believe and got merged and mixed in with several other fleets some time in the mid 80's. I found this one stopped in the "suicide lane" of U.S. 1 in downtown Ft Pierce, FL in early 1981 in front of a furniture store. I shot this Early Ford W model in Feb. 1972 near Vero Beach, FL. This nice looking Pete COE was having seals put on the trailer at the U.S. Agriculture office in Ft Pierce for a load of produce destined for Ontario back in 1981.

I came across this Geo. E. Treyz, Inc. Allied agent stopped along U.S. 5 in West Springfield, MA in 1974. I think Treyz was from Syracuse, NY, but I'm not positive on that. This KW COE was leased on with Dallas & Mavis from South Bend, IN and was parked at the Westfield, MA Howard Johnson's in early 1974. Wheel Horse Products from Michigan had a satellite manufacturing plant near West Springfield, MA. When I shot this older Diamond Reo in 1974 they were converting over to the then new Diamond Reo's with the wider COE cab.

Here is an O/O leased to Rowley Interstate from Dubuque, IA taken unloading a load of meat in Springfield, MA in 1974. Stonier Bakeries White Freightliner was layed over at a West Springfield, MA motel along U.S. 5 in 1974. Frito Lay taken in 1974 at the Marquis Texaco Truck Stop on U.S. 5 just S. of the Mass Turnpike bridge that crosses the Connecticut River in West Springfield.

Sarchfield Transfer Ltd. from Hartland, New Brunswick was delivering to O'Connor Lumber yard on U.S. 202 near Westfield, MA when I found him in 1973. Peterbilt logger taken at Marysville, CA in 1976 Tippin Gas Freightliner from Nevada taken at the 49er 76 Auto/Truck Plaza along I-880 at Sacramento, CA in 1976

F Model Mack was leased on with Frostways, Inc. from Detroit, MI that I caught while unloading at Hampden Beef Co. in downtown Springfield, MA TransAmerican Van Lines from Texas (Ft Worth I think) use to pull alot of electronics loads out of the Westfield, MA Digital plant when it was in operation during the 1970's. They were a regular local vistor when I was growing up and had some nice O/O tractors leased on with them. This one was layed over at the Westfield Howard Johnson's. You can tell this unidentified KW had been driving in winter weather that I found in front of O'Connor Lumber on U.S. 202 near Westfield, MA

Wheaton Van Lines from Indianapolis, IN was parked at a Holiday Inn in downtown Springfield, MA KW with the twin bulk feeder trailers was also shot in 1976. Pete day cab was taken in 1976 at the Cordelia, CA Terminal Stations.

Roy Widener Motor Lines from Morristown,TN was a furniture hauler and this White Road Commander was delivering to the Berkline Furniture distribution facility in West Springfield, MA during June 1978. This Monfort from Colorado KW was in downtown Springfield, MA in Feb. 1976. I believe these replacements for their KW conv.'s were almost brand new when I "captured" it. Trans American Van Service Mack was layed over at the Westfield, MA Howard Johnsons in Feb. 1976.

Lundys Packing from Clinton, NC is a pork processor who for many years ran a very attractive colorful fleet promoting their name and product line. This Diamond Reo was taken on a snowy Feb. 1976 morning in downtown Springfield, MA. This unidentified Diamond Reo was backed up to the Sterling Radiator Co. docks in Westfield, MA in 1973. Richard R. Johncox "Brock" from Williamson, N.Y. was resting @ the Westfield, MA Howard Johnson's in 1973. This was one of my favorite pictures as the truck has an all business look to it and was posed just right.

About once a week or so back in 1973 & 74 by Exit 3 of the Mass Pike an Iowa based livestock rig would met up with a local pork farmer in a small straight truck and exchange a number of pigs. On Several occasions I had good timing and shot photos of the 18 wheeler such as this visit on a very cloudy 1973 afternoon. An unidentified IH Transtar stopped at a U.S. 5 motel in West Springfield, MA in 1973. The Dodge was for Robertson Driveaway from the L.A. area. Notice the single axle trailer, looks odd hooked to the tandem axle cab. Taken at the Muffin Treat Coffee Shop at Fairfield, CA along I-80 in February 1976. The Muffin Treat was a favorite stopping spot for Safeway drivers when I was stationed right near Fairfield, CA. The KW tanker was for Telfer Tank Lines out of Martinez, CA taken at the 49er 76 Auto/Truckstop along I-880 at Sacramento, CA

Pete COE belonged to a private fleet called Trinity taken at the Terminal Stations at Cordelia, CA along I-80 in March 1976. O/O leased to Frostways out of Detroit, MI stopped along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield, MA in 1974. Hale Distributing was a produce hauler from Montebello, CA. This Freightliner was at the Springfield, MA farmers market complex in 1974.

Pete with an army truck was leased on to International Transport out of Rochester, MN taken in early 1976 and all at Terminal Stations along I-80 in Cordelia, CA This KW COE was also leased to IT, but had this nice blue paint job and was the only rig truck w/ pull trailer I ever saw leased on with International Transport taken in early 1976 and all at Terminal Stations along I-80 in Cordelia, CA Hayes for Mercury Produce. Every once in awhile I'd see a Hayes, but never had too much luck in getting pictures of them, this was an exception taken in early 1976 and all at Terminal Stations along I-80 in Cordelia, CA

Marmon from Sanford, FL taken just about as darkness fell in early 1974 at the Springfield, MA farmers market complex. Unidentified Diamond Reo was being offloaded at a West Springfield, MA lumber yard in 1974. This was Chevrolet's version of the GMC steel tilt COE and belonged to Wm. E. Wright from Massachusetts. I came across him at the Penn Central trailer yard in West Springfield, MA in 1974. H.P. Prang a building materials hauler based outside of Boston, MA was layed over at a motel across the street from O'Connor Lumber on U.S. 202 N. of Westfield, MA in 1973.

Every once in awhile I'd see a Hayes, but never had too much luck in getting pictures of them, this was an exception taken in early 1976 and all at Terminal Stations along I-80 in Cordelia, CA

Unidentified Diamond Reo was being offloaded at a West Springfield, MA lumber yard in 1974.	This was Chevrolet's version of the GMC steel tilt COE and belonged to Wm. E. Wright from Massachusetts. I came across him at the Penn Central trailer yard in West Springfield, MA in 1974.	H.P. Prang a building materials hauler based outside of Boston, MA was layed over at a motel across the street from O'Connor Lumber on U.S. 202 N. of Westfield, MA in 1973.
