Brandt was a furniture manufacturer and/or distributor from Ft Worth, TX and the driver of this IH Transtar used to work with Dan Darling (owner of Key Line Freight out of Grand Rapids, MI) who I worked for in the early 80's after he sold Key Line to Roadway and moved South. He was visiting Dan when I snapped this photo at the St Lucie County Airport near Ft Pierce in 1981. |

| Colonial Fiber Board from the Boston area was shot at the Old Colony Envelope plant in downtown Westfield, MA in the summer of 1972. I'd ride my bike all over town looking for trucks to photograph. To me that was more fun and important than playing with the other kids in my neighborhood while school was out. |

| Ryder Truck Lines tractor was layed over t a motel in West Springfield, MA where U.S. 5 and U.S. 20 meet in 1973. Alot of L.T.L. linehaulers used this motel to "bed down" at before they did their turn back to their terminal they were based out of. There was only room for tractors to park in the lot though. |

| The Sun Oil Co. White 4000 was off-loading at a Sunoco station on U.S. 20 in West Springfield, MA in 1972. I started out taking pictures of the tractors only because my second camera, a Kodak 126 produced a square picture whereas the first 110 I bought produced a more rectangular picture when printed. I guess I hadn't yet realized I could shoot the entire unit in these early pictures with the Kodak Pocket 110. |

| This O/O name was Billy Love and hailed from Blackville, SC. This was shot at the motel at the intersection of U.S. 20 and U.S. 5 in West Springfield that alot of L.T.L. linehaulers rested at. You can see part of the grill of a Ryder Truck Lines Road Boss next to the White Freightliner. |
GMC Astro with livestock trailer belongs to Bonner from somewhere in Iowa. Several Iowa based livestock fleets would meet local livestock farmers with their straight jobs and load/off-load livestock across from the entrance to exit 3 of the Mass. Pike in the early-md 70's. |
White 4000 belonged to Mitchell Transport, Inc. a cement hauling fleet w/ bulkers and flatbeds (which was folded into the Leaseway Transportation conglomerate of fleets) was taken in 1972 along U.S. 202 N. of Westfield, MA |

The one with the Penn Central local locomotive in the background (left) was taken right along side Penn Central's railyard and Boston-Albany Div. mainline. Schaeffer was a real common sight in the early-mid 70's around the greater Springfield area. I'm guessing they brought alot of West Coast produce in and hauled anything back out to the S.W. states. |

Inland Express White Freightliner tractor was used to pull turnpike doubles from exit 6 (Chicopee) of the Mass Pike both East towards Boston and across the NY Thruway. I shot it at their Chicopee terminal in 1974. Inland also interlined w/ O'Donnelll's Express from Presque Island, ME as you can see some of their logo on a trailer in the background. |

| FWD was an O/O leased to a reefer carrier J.B. Montgomery out of Denver, CO and was unloading at a local meat distributor located inside the Springfield, MA farmers complex in the summmer of 1974. The cabs that FWD used sure looked alot like the cab White Motor Co. used on the 1st Road Commander model or that Ford Motor Co. used on one of their W Series COE models. |
Schneider Transport IH Transtar was taken at the Westfield, MA Howard Johnson's at Exit 3 of the Mass. Pike and U.S. 202 in early 1975. Schneider was a heavy user of the Mass Pike running almost exclusively IH Transtars. |
I found this Global Transtar at an ARCO or Atlantic station on U.S. 5 that had diesel on U.S. 5 in W. Springfield in 1974. |
