Astro Moving & Storage, agents for Wheaton Dodge COE on my parents street near Ft Pierce, FL 1981. IH Transtar w/ tanker: An O/O leased to Florida General Trucking who were at one time the S. Florida agency for Tallahassee, FL based McKenzie Tanks Lines. McKenzie eventually bought FL Gen. out. 1981 Carolina Ford at Ft Pierce exit area of Florida's Turnpike taken in the early 80's.
B Model Mack turning onto the road that will take him to I-95 in St Lucie County, FL after loading up at a local Citrus packing house, taken in 1981. Fleet of red and white tractors. Buck Conrad Trucking use to do the hauling for W.R. Grace & Co. Ft Pierce fertilizer plant in the early 80's before it was closed and torn down. Early 80's. They were an Orlando based grocery distributor in the 80's. Not sure what happened to them. Taken at Ft Pierce. I shot the Sweet Life Foods from Windsor Locks, CT while home on leave from the U.S. Air Force in Springfield, MA in the summer of 1978. I believe Sweet Life was absorbed into Super Valu Foods during the early 90's. Mack R model with snow tires (it looks like all the way around) was a one truck fleet called J & E, inc. from my Hometown of Westfield. He use to haul roof trusses and other lumber loads for O'Connor Lumber Co. on U.S. 202 N.of Downtown Westfield. This photo was taken in 71.
This wrecked Bay State Plastics GMC Crackerbox was from Leominster, MA and had rolled once completely over to the right off the breakdown lane and down a small embankment on the W. Bound lanes of the Mass. Pike during the summer of 1971 between exits 3 & 4. Consolidated Freightways Freightliner was taken at the shipping dock of Old Colony Envelope Co. in downtown Westfield, MA in 1971. This KW coe leased to P.I.E., operator of All States Trucking (as it read on the door) was taken t the former Howard Johnson's at Exit 3 of the Mass Pike in Westfield in 1971
Sunshine Mills, inc. was a familiar sight around the deep South with these F Macks in the 80's. I took a distance shot of this one at the I-10 rest area just West of where it crosses over I-75 in North Florida in May 1981. This Mack Ultraliner for UPS was photographed in 1985 in a Birmingham, AL suburb. I think this was the last UPS over the road model before they switched to an all conventional fleet. This Overnite Mack F was shot in the mid 80's in S. of Ft Pierce in White City, FL at the now closed Market Truck Stop along U.S. 1.
Inland Express from Syracuse, NY was shot at their Chicopee, MA terminal. Shot during the summer of 1974. Carolina Freight Carriers was at the Springfield, MA farmers market complex. Shot during the summer of 1974. Smith's Transfer Corporation, Staunton, VA was at the Mass 10 Truckstop on U.S. 20 in Auburn, MA. Shot during the summer of 1974.
Klor's Express, inc. from Neptune, NJ & Pompano Beach, FL also at Springfield farmers market. Shot during the summer of 1974. These were Paul Arpin Van Lines, Providence, RI colors before they went "big time". Caught this early version of the IH Transtar stopped along U.S. Route 5 a.k.a. Riverdale Road in West Springfield, MA in 1974. To the left of it is the left rear quarter of my Dad's new 1974 Chevy Impala he let me borrow to go look for trucks to shoot photo's of from time to time. Shot this colorful Mack Cruiseliner leased on with Paul Arpin out of E. Providence, RI at the S. bound I-95 rest area at the 169mm S. of Palm Bay, FL in 1981.
Unidentified Owner/Operator's IH Fleetstar from somewhere in NC, but I do know I took the picture in 1978 in downtown Vero Beach, FL. Shippers Imperial from San Jose, CA was a merging of two fleets (Shippers_______ and Imperial ______ both from somewhere in California). This was an odd trailer in that it would carry it's load right in the center of the open frame. This was taken in 1980 at an industrial park at the Port of West Sacramento, CA. NAVL Transtar II was shot while home on leave from the U.S. Air Force in West Springfield, MA in 1978.
O'D, O'donnell's Express, Inc. from Presque Isle, ME their logo was "The Pioneer Line". They were one of my favorite L.T.L. fleets when I was growing up. This was shot in 1974 at the Lewis Beef Co. dist. warehouse in Springfield, MA. I believe they sold to Sanborn's Motor Express out of Portland, ME sometime during the mid 70's. Tobin Packing Co. makers of Tobin's First Prize Cold Cuts from Albany, NY operated this neat fleet of S. axle sleeper equipped Macks always pulling these S. axle short & low refrigerated trailers, most likely to get in and out of all the tight spots on their routes they served. I found this one stopped across the street from the old A & P Stores refrigerated warehouse in the N. end of Springfield, MA in 1974. Here's a KW COE for Coca Cola Bottling Co that the driver is closing the trailer doors after delivering or picking up from a Springfield, MA bottler in 1974.
Commercial Carriers, Inc. GMC Brigadeer was shot along U.S. 1 in Ft Pierce also in 1981. Complete Auto Transit Chev 90 auto hauler I shot up in New Castle, DE in May 1981 at a Hojo's. We always stayed at coming home from Florida just S. of the Delaware Memorial Bridge along I-295 Leaseway Transportation GMC Brigadere auto hauler I shot up in New Castle, DE in May 1981 at a Hojo's.

Pete 359 conv. for McNabb Farms from Idaho and was shot in 1978 at the former 49er 76 Auto Truckstop along what use to be I-880 (now I-80 on the N.Side of Sacramento, CA) West Coast Truck Lines Mack Cruiseliner COE from Eugene, OR Montana Express Western Star and an O/O leased to Boat Transit, Inc. next to it taken at the Terminal Stations Texaco along I-80 at the Cordelia exit right near where I-680 branches off in 1978.
