Found this Central Transport, Inc. Warren, Michigan sleeper team at the Bucksville, PA Travel Centers of America along I-80 on Oct 27, 2010. A couple of Ohio dump trucks near downtown Delaware, Ohio on Oct. 25, 2010. I never can get the opportunity to shoot an Eastern Freightways hooked to one of their "classic" On The Ball" trailers so I had to settle for this NEMF box at the Lamar, PA Truckstops of America. That's a busy truckstop exit about halfway across The Keystone State on I-80 with 3 busy truckstops all competing for the truckers business.
Interesting to see both Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins logo's on the air fairing of this Freightliner Columbia I found AT the Brookville, PA T/A along I-80 in Western PA on Oct. 27, 2010. The driver was cranking down the landing gear of his lead pup waiting on another FedEx Freight unit so they could do a meet, drop n swap AT the Buckville, PA T/A on I-80 also on Oct. 27, 2010. On Line Transport from Indiana had just exited from X-256 of W.B. I-80 in Eastern Pennsylvania and was pulling out onto the highway by the Pilot Travel Center there.
Valley Transportation from Ashland, Ohio in motion at the Upper Sandusky, Ohio Pilot lot on U.S. 30 & U.S. 23. He almost got past me before I could fire off one quick shot. They have a great looking fleet of metal haulers! A super looking Western Star leased on with Bowling Transportation rolling on W.B. U.S. 20 in downtown Bellevue, Ohip while I waited for a light to turn green to pull out. Saw this Alcam Creamery IH Prostar from Round Center, WI at a small cheese plant and retail center we stopped at on Ohio Route 93 in Pearl on Oct. 26, 2010.
An Albino Estes IH 8600 next to the McDonald's at X-136 of I-75 in Perry on Nov. 3, 2010. Grocery Haulers Incorporated from Avenal, NJ at Ambest Pride at X-6 (I-291) of the Mass Pike in Chicopee. They use these 8600's to pull turnpike doubles across the Mass Pike & NY Thruway. IH Lonestar late afternoon Nov. 1, 2010 at the Duncan, SC T/A I-85 X-63.
A big "souped up" looking KW leased on with NAVL that was layed over at the Nitro, WV Pilot along I-64 between Charleston & Huntington. on Oct. 24, 2010. During a traffic backup on W.B. I-78 near Allentown/Bethlehem, PA on Oct. 30, 2010. One good thing about a windy day is that flags are always unfurled all the way as such was the case at Truck World located at either the last or first exit on I-80 in Ohio (depending on your direction of travel).
Two Westbound rigs on Ohio Route 39 near Sugar Creek on Oct. 26, 2010. A sharp Walmart Prostar daycab pulling into the Coshocton, Ohio store on U.S. Route 36 on Oct. 26, 2010. An extra sharp lonenose IH Eagle leased to Landstar Inway from Jacksonville, FL at Truck World in Girard, Ohio.
A 1982 KW leased on to Jones Motor Company from Spring City, PA layed over for the evening at Truck World because of his overwidth load. The lettering on the cab door and tarp reads Gambler and it looks like it has a Wisconsin plate. Midwest Specialized Transportation out of Rochester, MN was at the Buckhorn, PA Travel Centers of America X-232 off of I-80 with this pre-fab building on Oct. 27, 2010.
Somewhere from 12-15 Precision Motor Transport Group, Okemos, Michigan with Sterling and Freightliner Arogosy "wiggle wagon's" were layed over at the Gateway Travel Center T/A Sunday morning Oct. 31, 2010. They loaded up with new autos in Baltimore, Maryland and were headed to various car dealerships in the Midwest.
UPS Freight headed to I-80 just after pulling out of a small truckstop in Milesburg, PA at X-158. I had just pulled into the T/A and saw him coming towards me.
I like to take highway signs with multiple routes and destination cities on them. Here are 6 from our Oct. 2010 trip.
By the front door of the old Snyder's Gateway Truck Stop (now Gateway Travel Centers of America) where I-70 & the PA Turnpike meet in Breezewood, PA. EB on I-76 approaching where it runs into I-80 and I-76 turns off and becomes part of the Ohio Turnpike not far from Youngstown, Ohio. On S.B. I-95 crossing the George Washington Bridge over the Hudson river from the Bronx and the Cross Bronx Expressway toward New Jersey.
W.B. on the Ohio Turnpike in West Central Ohio. From U.S. 30 in Breezewood, PA to get on the PA Turnpike & W.B. I-70. The view from the back of the Ambest Pride Truck Stop at X-6 of the Mass Pike in Chicopee during peak fall color season.
Smith Trucking from Baltic, Ohio was about to unload @ this animal feeds bulk plant also in Baltic on Oct. 26, 2010. I saw him around back as we were driving by on Ohio Route 93 and whipped in there to get a quick photo of this beautiful KW! BA Incorporated "serving America's dairy farmers" from Millbury, Massachusetts with this extra sharp Ryder owned ProStar pulled into the Lee service plaza on E.B. I-90 (the Mass Pike) while we were there on Oct. 28, 2010. As we were pulling in to the Tom's Brook, VA Wilco/Hess Travel Center on I-81 X-293 this America's Catch Catfish IH was pulling out. I shot him as quick as I could get my digital turned on. He still got past me, but I caught the big American flag on the reefer trailer pretty good.
Several Mayflower "big bunk" ower operators were layed over at the Breezewood T/A the night we stayed next door. At first light I was working the lot looking for good photo opportunities. Good thing it was a weekend as most of the drivers were hanging around for a while longer before they hit the highway. Two Performance Motor Transport Group Freightliner Argosy's from Okemos, MI pulled under the fuel island canopy at the Breezewood, PA T/A as I was leaving so I took this different angle shot as I walked past them.
Bunch Transport Charleston, SC alongside U.S. Route 522 near Berkeley Springs, WV. J.E. Fortin from the Province of Quebec at the Ambest Pride in Chicopee (X-6 of the Mass Pike). JBS Carriers, Inc. Greeley, Colorado the in-house carrier for E.A. Miller, Inc. and several other brands that JBS owns at the Breezewood, PA Pilot, X-161 off the PA Turnpike.
Sunbury Transportation Ltd. from Fredericton, New Brunswick also at the Chicopee Ambest Pride. This over demensional size load was bigger and longer than it appears in the picture. Barclay Heavy Hauling from Wharton, NJ was stopped at the Milesburg, PA T/A at X-158 on I-80 when we pulled in. A Danville, VA O/O leased to Landstar System had his great looking Freightliner Coronado parked at the Pilot Travel Center where U.S. 29 & U.S. 58 cross on the S. side of Danville, VA.
Came across this IH livestocker from Strasburg, VA on a back road in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley in fall 2010. Kind of like a black cat, I crossed paths with this solid black aero Pete for Moore Freight Service, Inc. Knoxville, TN at the Glade Spring, VA Petro on I-81 at X-29. This is the first rig I've seen for Yakima, WA based Floyd Blinsky Trucking, Inc. He was resting at the Stoney Ridge, OH Petro right off of I-280 & X-71 of the Ohio Turnpike.
An interesting curtainside trailer set-up for Red Cap Transport from Dearborn, Michigan hooked to this IH Eagle that was just off the fuel island of the Stoney Ridge, Ohio Pilot Travel Center. A first series Volvo VN leased on with Tri-State Expediting from Perryburg, Ohio which is right down the road from where I took this at the Petro on I-280. Steel hauler Alco Transportation from Detroit, MI has quite a few O/O's pulling these multi axle covered wagons for them. This Pete was at the Petro on I-280 just N. of X-71 (Stoney Ridge) on the Ohio Turnpike. The paved parking lot at this Petro is huge, you almost need a golf cart to get around all of it!
I saw a number of these MLT, Inc. red Pete foodgrade tankers in my travels around Ohio. They are based in Mt. Pleasant, MI. This was layed over at a motel where U.S. 30 & Ohio Route 4 meet on the N. side of Bucyrus, Ohio. This picture reminds me of one of the old "Small Fleet of the Month" shots from the original Overdrive Magazine. This was at Tyson Foods bulk feeds facility by Shenandoah Caverns just W. of I-81 near New Market, Virginia. Nothing fancy but a rugged looking all Mack lineup. Here's one rugged looking aero Pete leased on with Alaska West Express from Tacoma, Washington. I'm assuming this machine runs the Alcan Highway up in The Last Frontier. He had pulled into the Upper Sandusky, Ohio Pilot on U.S. 30 & U.S. 23.
Bailess Trucking out of Lynchburg, Virginia must be a contract hauler for the Frito lay bakery located there. I found him early one morning in fall 2010 at the Breezewood, PA Pilot Travel Center. The Travel Centers of America lot right near the Ohio Turnpike X-71 (I-280) tollbooths in late October 2010. Letica Freightlines from Rochester, Michigan at the Perry, GA Burger King (I-75 X-136). I believe Letica is a manufacturing concern and utilizes their in-house fleet for delivery of their products, back hauls to the plant and as a for-hire carrier.
Hone & Sons Trucking, Inc. (not sure where based at) had this Volvo VN at the Hebron, Ohio Travel Centers of America on I-70 E. of Columbus, Ohio in fall 2010. JXN Transport had two fuel tankers parked at the Glade Spring Petro along I-81 X-29 in S.W.Virginia, October 2010. Auto hauler USA Incorporated from Utica, Michigan and WEL from DePere, WI taken at the Perry Wal-Mart in January 2011.
