AEC Mercury. A typical British truck of the 60's shown with a single axle trailer. This 1965 registered tractor unit has been conserved and was seen at the 2006 Scammell Road Run at Chatham, Kent. Astra HD 64.38. Rio Beton has a large fleet of mixers with 3 and 4 axles. They have a mixed fleet of truck makes including Volvo and MAN. This model was seen near Vignola, Italy in 2007. Atkinson Searcher. Another typical British truck of the 1970's. A very popular truck in its day, this one was supplied with a Gardner 150 diesel engine. The truck was seen at the Scammel Road Run at Chatham in 2007.
Bedford. This vehicle is a 5 ton truck with a 900 gallon tank body. A very popular truck of the 1940's and still quite common at Truck Rallies. This one was seen at Chatham, Kent in 2007. DAF 95XF. Aquila. A very popular truck throughout Europe, this one is from Romania. In Britain you can see many Eastern Bloc trucks on our roads. This one was seen at the Oxford services on the M40 in 2006. DAF 2800. Breda. This Dutch truck has the Space Cab body. Breda are a large Dutch company that trade all through Europe. This truck is fitted for the hanging garment trade in Tangiers. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 1994.
DAF CF. Royal Mail. The Royal Mail have a vast fleet of artic, rigid trucks and small vans for delivering the daily letters and parcels thoughout Great Britain. This is a typical 18 metre truck in the Royal Mail red livery. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. DAF 75. 300. UK Petroleum. This distribution vehicle has a 28,000 litre tank body on a twin axle trailer. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2000. DAF 95XF. Whittle are a large moving company that specialise in moving home, office and military personnel. The specially built trailer has large side opening doors suitable for loading large modules for easy transportation and storage. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006.
Dennis Eagle. WCR are a Midland based company that specialise in waste management, recycling and vehicle hire. This truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. ERF. ECS. Blue Circle Cement. With a network of installations throughout Britain this company supplies a vast variety of cement products to the construction industry. They have a large fleet of cement powder tankers working for them and this one is sub contracted from Turners. The truck was seen near their Northfleet depot in 2006. ERF.ECX. Nicholls. Based in Sittingbourne, Kent near the English channel, the company specialises in next day deliveries and collections in England and Northern Europe. With its tautliner trailer the truck was seen at Northfleet in 2006.
ERF. ECT. Sainsbury's. Sainsbury are one of the largest supermarket chains in England with a vast fleet supplying on time deliveries to their many shops and depots. This refrigerated trailer and tractor unit were seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2007. ERF. This is a truck from the 1950's. Eight wheelers were a very common type of truck at the time in England and this one was seen at a Truck Rally at Gaydon in 2006. Ken Thomas has a small fleet of very well turned out trucks in preservation. Fiat. This four axle self loading truck can be seen loaded with aggregate. The truck has right hand drive which is common in Italy for this aged truck. Although the country drives on the right, the steering wheel is on the wrong side as a safety feature when these trucks are driving on the narrow mountain roads. The truck was seen near Vignola in 2007.
Foden Alpha. Clubb. The Foden name is no longer traded which is a sad testament to the British truck industry after 150 years of manufacture. Foden will be sadly missed. This truck was travelling empty and was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Foden Alpha. Entwisles. This truck and trailer belongs to a large company that supplies building blocks to the building industry. They have a large mixed fleet of trucks, DAF, ERF, Foden and also trailers, many of which are self loading. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Foden 4375. James Mellors. This Foden was one of many travelling together and seen on the A1 trunk road in Lincolnshire. Many Fodens, when they have finished their working life in the haulage industry, finish up in the fairground industry. They are a rugged and reliable truck. The truck was seen in 2007.
Foden 4500. James Mellors. This truck was part of a convoy transporting a fairground attraction called Big Ben. All the convoy were Foden trucks. They were seen near Stamford in 2007. Iveco Stralis 430. Esso. Esso is an international company with an extensive delivery network. This rigid chassis tanker was seen near Vignola in Italy in 2007. Iveco Stralis 480. Nickolaus Hammerer. This Austrian company have a mainly Iveco fleet and are a common Site on British roads. Hauling a tri axle trailer, the truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006.
Iveco Eurostar 420. JBS Haulage and Storage. An all blue livery Iveco with matching tractor and curtainside trailer. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Lancia Esagamma E. This truck is quite a rarity nowadays and must be at least 38 years old because production ceased in 1969. It looked in quite good condition so it could still be a working truck. It was seen near Vignola in 2007. Leyland Constructor 30.30. Skipaway. Viridor Waste Management aquired this Medway company. The truck has a roll on roll off body and was seen parked at an old style transport cafe in 1995.
MAN TGA 460 XXL. Tesselaar. This Dutch company has a mixed fleet of vehicles and one part of its organisation is air cargo handling. This truck with a refrigerated trailer and low profile tyres was seen at Whitstable, Kent in 2006. MAN 22.403. This truck was seen in Hackney, London in 2006. The company hires heavy plant to the construction industry. Here it can be seen with a Volvo dump truck on its semi low loader trailer. Mercedes. Hermann Steffens. This truck and trailer was seen on a motorway in Luxembourg in 2001. The truck can be seen with long range diesel tanks and wind deflector on the roof of its cab.
Mercedes 1827. Shepherd Neame. Hauling a single axle trialer this brewers dray is delivering beer from a well established Kentish brewer that has been trading for over 300 years. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Mercedes Axor 2543. TNT. TNT specialise in global next day delivery as one part of their global organisation. They have a large fleet of all makes of trucks and bodies. This truck was seen on the M25 at Dartford, Kent in 2007. Mercedes Actros 2546. Whitelock. This Scottish company is seen here hauling a tri axle flatbed trailer loaded with steel mesh. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006.
Renault Magnum 480. Euroteam. This truck and trailer has Italian registration and was seen at the motorway services on the M11 in 2007. Renault R340. Ferrand. This truck isn't too common in the British haulage Industry although very popular in France where it is manufactured. The truck here is seen loaded with pallets and was photographed on the M25 in Dartford, Kent in 2000. Renault Premium 420. The truck looks like an ex DHL tractor unit. It is seen here hauling a flat rack container unit. These are used when loads are overheight or over width as is shown in the picture. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006.
Renault Magnum 440. Skat. This polish company has a nice bright livery and their trucks are often seen on our roads. This is one of many Polish companies that trades in England since they joined the European Community. The truck was seen at Norhfleet, Kent in 2006. Scammell S 26. This truck belongs to the British Army and is loaded with barbed wire. The truck is left hand drive so was probably used abroad before returning to the UK. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Scammell Constructor. This 6 x 6 truck is probably ex army. It's registration plates show it to be 40 years old. It was seen at a Scammell Road Run at Chatham, Kent in 2006.
Scammell Contractor. This truck was regularly used in the heavy haulage industry. The truck is seen in the Pickfords livery which was one of the main heavy haulage companies in England when this truck was registered. The truck was seen at the Scammell Road Run at Chatham, Kent in 2006. Scania 114L. Corr. This plant hire company is seen here in a lay by in Hertfordshire. With its STGO plate it is registered to exceed the normal GVW weight of 42 tons. The picture was taken in 2007. Scania R420. Fielding. The company is a storage and disrribution company in the Manchester area. With its bright livery and curtainside trailer the truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006.
Scania R580 Topline. F J Need. Part of the companies outlets is food processing and packaging. The refrigerated trailer is seen with a tractor unit sporting a rather expensive personalised registration plate. The truck was seen at Leyton, London in 2007. Scania T cab 144L 380. Van Hoof is a Belgium glass transportation company. The Scania is registered in France and has probably been sub contracted for the job. Van Hoof have over 100 tractor units. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Scania 113M 360. This old 3 axled rigid bodied truck is seen here transporting bales of hay in Italy. The truck was seen in 2007 near Vignola.
Scania P270. Kingstown Furniture. This truck and trailer was seen on the M25 at Dartford, Kent. It has a large sleeping pod and both bodies are demountable. The truck was seen in 2007. Scania R470. This truck and trailer is hauling livestock. The truck is loaded with sheep on three levels. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Scania R580. This truck was specially built for container work and normally hauls a trailer. With 580 bhp it has little trouble pulling its GVW. The truck was seen at its depot on the Isle of Grain in 2006.
Scania 164G 420. Munro's. This company specialises in supplying materials to the building industry and can just be seen here with its own forklift secured to the rear of the vehicle. The truck was seen in Hackney, London in 2007. Scania 143M 500. This truck was seen here delivering a 40ft open top container from the United States. The hired trailer was extended to accommodate the 40ft length on the low loader trailer. The truck was seen in Leyton, London in 2002. Scania 111. This truck has been restored in its original livery. A popular model on the Truck Festival circuit, this one was seen at the Scammell Road Run at Chatham, Kent in 2006.
Scania 164L 580. Cameron Young. This well turned out Scottish truck has a lot of custom features. Parked up for the weekend it was seen in Dartford, Kent in 2007. Seddon Atkinson Strato. This is a sub contractor hauling a C and H trailer. A common truck in the 1990's but few are around today. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2002. Seddon Atkinson Strato 325. This model has an Iveco cab and a refuse body. Seddon Atkinson is owned by Iveco and the Seddon brand is sold for the British market. The truck was seen at Hackney, London in 2007.
Seddon. This artic was first registered in 1972 and has been rebuilt to its present condition. This is another Ken Thomas preserved truck and was seen at Gaydon in 2006. Volvo FM12. 420. Rio Beton. Another truck from the Rio Beton fleet. This four axle cement mixer was seen near Vignola, Italy in 2007. Volvo FH12. Den Hartogh. This Dutch company has depots all over Europe and specialises in liquid logistics. It does a lot of work for the petro chemical industry. This truck was seen on the M25 at Dartford, Kent in 2007.
Volvo F88. This truck model is very rugged and reliable and is very popular on the Truck Festival circuit. This particular truck is owned by Knowles Transport and is painted in their current livery as opposed to their old dark blue livery that their other conserved trucks are painted. This truck was seen at Gaydon in 2006. Volvo FL10. 360. This old Volvo is seen hauling a bulk cement powder trailer. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Volvo 1233. This old bonneted Volvo with tipper body was seen near Vignola, Italy in 2007. Although an old model they are still quite common on the Continent but a very rare site in England.
Volvo FM 12. This four axle truck is loaded with logs and is seen pulling a single axle trailer. You can see the raised hydraulic legs on the trailer that gives it stability when unhitched. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Volvo FH12 420. Weaver. This truck with its Globetrotter cab is seen hauling cut logs on its flatbed trailer. Logs are usually secured with chains but these appear to be secured with 5 ton ratchet straps. The truck was seen at Northfleet, Kent in 2006. Volvo N12. Yeoman. Yeoman are a heavy haulage company and this old Volvo is seen unloading a Scammell Constructor at the Scammell Road Run at Chatham, Kent in 2006.
