Lee's Transport Ltd. was started by Sam Lee, who brought his family from Ontario, in a covered wagon, to live in Vanderhoof, BC. Sam Lee used his team to haul freight. When the company went to motorized equipment, one of his sons drove the Fraser Canyon Highway to Vancouver, BC. This marked the first majoy expansion of Lee's Transport. Lee's Transport started to grow when Pinchi Lake mercury mine opened up in 1940. At that time, Lee's had one of the largest fleet of trucks driving through the Fraser Canyon. Lee's Transport joined up with Northern Freightways in April 1953. In 1953, the combined companies were running a 24-hour service as far as Dawson Creek, BC. At that time, Lee's Transport had 28 trucks on the Vancouver end and going through the Fraser Canyon.
