Remarks: Northbound highway N-62. On my way from Axel to Middelburg. Here you see the southentrance of the Westerscheldetunnel. With a length of more than 6 kilometres it is the longest tunnel of the Netherlands. It leads underneath the Westerschelde in the south-west of the Netherlands.
Date: April 2009.
Location: Vlissingen. Holland.
Truck: MAN TGA XL.
Company, homebase: BTB. Goirle, Holland.
Remarks: Unloading in Middelburg was meant for the next day so I made a nightstop at the Sloehaven truckstop in the seaport of Vlissingen. A small and nice truckstop with only a dozen rigs on their parkinglot. This MAN was the first. It is in Vrachtunie livery, and that's where this o/o is hauling for.

Truck: Scania R420 Highline.
Company, homebase: Girlinger. Völklingen, Germany.
Remarks: Taken at the Sloehaven truckstop. Now I felt quite hungry, so I didn't wait till the Sloehaven had a full house. This was the last truckpicture that day.
Date: April 2009.
Location: Vlissingen, Holland.
Remarks: I became some request by e-mail how European truckstops look like. There no better way to show you then by picture. This small building is the Sloehaven truckstop. Not an enourmous truckstop like in North-America. In fact, apart from Germany, most of the European truckstops are most different from their North-American "buddies". No gassation, no shop. The Sloehaven truckstop has parkingspace for about 20 bigrigs. The food is good, prices are fair, and you can take a good shower ove rthere.
Date: April 2009.
Location: Vrouwepolder, Holland.
Remarks: After unloading in Middelburg, I headed for Schiedam for a load of bottles for Oosterhout. The road from Middelburg to Schiedam leaded me over the westerly Deltaworks in the southwest of the Netherlands. Here I'm on the "Veersedam", wich connects the former isle of Walcheren with the former isle of Noord-Beveland. On the left behind the dyke there's the Northsea, to the right the "Veerse Meer".
Date: April 2009.
Location: Kamperland, Holland.
Remarks: Northbound highway N-57. Here I'm on the famous Oosterschelde storm surge barrier. This is the biggest of the 13 dams, build after the flooding disaster of 1953. This dam is having large doors so saltwater remains in the Oosterschelde, wich is good for the marine-life in the Oosterschelde. A shame I passed it on a rainy day.
Date: April 2009.
Location: Near Burgh Haamstede. Holland.
Remarks: The Oosterschelde storm surge barrier connects Noord-Beveland with Schouwen-Duiveland. Here you see clearly the large doors wich can be closed by storm and flooding.
Date: April 2009.
Location: Scharendijke, Holland
Remarks: Northbound N-57. This is the Brouwersdam wich connects Schouwen-Duiveland with Goeree-Overflakkee. This is not a storm surge barrier, but a closed dam.

Location: Hank. Holland.
Date: April 2009.
Remarks: The Napoleon truckstop is situated in Hank on the old mainroad from Breda to Utrecht. If you take a close look, highway A-27 can be seen in the back .Recently the building is rebuild. The food and showerfacilities are good, although the restaurant is quite noisy. Large parking available, but after 9 pm it is almost impossible to find free space. That speaks for itselvses about what Dutch truckers think about the Napoleon.
