Location: Near Eschweiler. Germany.
Date: September 2008.
Remarks: After 4 evenings taking pictures at the Joost, the Bakker & Brouwer dispatch tought it was time for some scenerypics. So they tought it would be wise to send me with a load of pallets to Bondorf in the south of Germany. So I loaded those pallets on a Thursdaymorning in Oud Gastel, what is situated in Holland, and went southbound to Bondorf, wich is south of Stuttgart. The first pic I took eastbound highway A-4 between Aachen and Köln ( Cologne ) where you can see the electricityplant of Eschweiler.

Location: Rheinböllen. Germany.
Date: September 2008.
Remarks: Southbound highway A-61. In the distance you see the Rheinböllen Aral truckstop. I spend in the nineties many nights on the nearby situated Landhaus Elbert truckstop. Landhaus Elbert is very popular by the Dutch truckers. I had planned a stop on the Sinsheim truckstop on this trip, but thanks to a traffic jam I couldn't make it till there inside my 4 and a half hour drive according to our HOS.
Location: Near Rheinböllen. Germany.
Date: September 2008.
Remarks: Southbound highway A-61. This suposed to be a viewpic of the Hünsruck, but the flashlight of the camera flashed. Now you can see the toll-collector on the dashboard. In Germany trucks must pay toll on the highways. This is happen automaticly via this collector, wich is in contact with satelite's. When passing an exit, this machine count's the fare again untill the next exit. When you have no collector, you have to buy a ticket on the stateborder, also aviable at most of the German gasstations all over the country. Driving without collector or a ticket is a heavy crime and will cost you an awfull lot of money. If the collector is broken you need to buy a ticket! The collector is also readable for the German police or BAG ( BündesAmt fur Güterverkehr. Kind of special police for roadtransport ). They are able to connect with the collector while you are driving, just by driving in front of you with their van's. They can read exactly your drivingtimes arranged by the HOS, or what highways you have driven that day.

On Fridaymorning early, I unlaoded my pallets in Bondorf.

The new tunnel is about 2500 metress long. The old tunnel was almost on top of the Engelberg, and was only a 500 metres long. It was a steep climb from both sides to the old tunnel with lot's of traffic jams. That why they build a new Engelberg tunnel.

Remarks: Northbound highway A-61. Almost time to start the first climb. In this case with a 380hp DAF, and a full load of wood it was a slow happening. And then there is an overtake-prohibition for big rigs, so for once and a while Guido was the leader of the large convoy climbing up the Hünsruck towards Rheinböllen.
Location: Bingen. Germany.
Date: September 2008.
Remarks: Northbound highway A-61. Starting the climb, while enjoying the beautifull colours of autumn.
