I worked for Western-Gillette and then Roadway for 39 years. Retired 7 years ago. Enjoyed looking at the trucks, it's a shame most of those companies are long gone. It brought back a lot of memories. I can not believe that I found a site that had Willig Freight Lines pictures. I grew up at Willig where my dad was a terminal manager at 6 Willig terminals from Ft. Bragg to L.A. I too beacame a Willig terminal manager at the age of 19 but left at the age of 21 after 5 years with Willig to go into another line of work. These pictures will go well with my "Willig Wall" that contains pictures and documents dating from the early 1930's on. Willig runs in my blood and it's good to see that it's not forgotten.

These great pictures bring back very fond memories of the great people and equipment at PIE. The too short 5 years I spent as Safety and Security Director in the late 80's saw the demise of this venerable trucking company...the best in customer service. It was a very sad day. God bless everyone who pulled for PIE.

Great collection! I was trying to find truck pictures to show my 2 year old son who goes crazy over trucks and construction sites and we spent 15 minutes on your site. Thanks for the time you put into this....we enjoyed it (especially me...looking at all the trucks from my own childhood). Keep on trucking!!!

Hi, I see your site has mainly more modern trucks, here in the UK the only Diamond T's, any one will ever have heard of, is the WW2 military trucks, the most common being the 980 and 981's . I have a half share in a 1945 Diamond T 975 ex Canadian army, which we believe may be one of only two in the UK. It would be interesting to know if there are any 980 or 981 still around in the USA, as they were a truck built mainly for the British army. Do you know of any?

I love all those old truck pictures!!!!! I am a mixer driver and it is hard for me to picture a mixer truck (or for that matter, tandem axle rigs and tractor-trailers) with gas motors. Between all the shop time and drinking fuel like it's going out of style, a gas motor just can't cut it for the heavy jobs. Anyhoo, i love those old Diamond T's and B-series Macks anyway, even if alot of them ran gas motors under the hood. I'd just about give my eye teeth to get my hands on either!!!!!!!

Enjoyed your site. I drove for Carl Subler Trucking, Auburndale, Fl in the East Coast COE days with ICC numbers covering the sides of the sleeper and plates and bingo cards dragging on the ground...a good, but hard era when the Interstates were either non-existant, being built or redesigned...Leave Maine with five tires and return with one (if lucky)... great to remember a time I thought I'd always want to forget.

I was born and raised in Media, 30 miles from Exton where Autocar was king of the hill. A specialty rigging-heavy hauler from Chester PA, maybe Frank Hake once hauled a 125 ton electrical transformer from Chester to Peach Bottom Hydro plant about 75 miles away. The trip took at least 4 days, traveling at 2 mph! The truck was reported to have had a Merlin V-12! Does anyone out there remember the behemoth truck, and what was in the engine room? I was only a youngster in Concordville PA when this truck lumbered down Baltimore pike with 10-12 support vehicles and police escorts. Love your site!

I am looking for some pictures of Mack Lanova trucks, these were built for the U.S. Army, for use in W.W.2. Many of them were bought out of dumps after the war by European transport companys and converted for their own use and used by them for many years after the war, they were still being used right up to the late 50's and early 60's, I bet some of them are still running now, they were unkillable!!! I drove one for a while in Holland where I was born, It had a 6 cyl Lanova diesel motor, twin gear sticks (2gears in the aux box) 6 in the main box. Bogie drive, we used to pull a three axle dog trailer, and often carried a total payload of 30 odd tonnes, I'm still looking for photos of those old trucks, particularly from Europe, if any can be had, I mean those one that were rebuilt for goods cartage!

I've just found your web page, and am having a great deal of fun going through it, I never knew it existed, but saw Hank Suderman Collection on many truck pictures on the web; I often wondered how people got hold of those pictures until when I typed Hank Suderman Collection into a search engine and came up with your page, I am 63 years old and have worked in the transport industry 99% of my workin life, but I still get a Kick out of seeing great truck pictures, I'm looking for some photos of R190 Internationals as I spent a lot of time behind the wheel of some of them!! I'd welcome an acknowlegment to this!!

Being a trucking enthusiast, I really enjoy your collection of photos, especially the ones showing trucks from the 1970's and 1980's when I was growing up and developing a love for these rigs. I developed a real love for the big rigs from travelling with my father at an early age.The photos are wonderful! They take me on a trip down memory lane.Although I have never driven trucks, I still have a big fascination for them, and so does my 2 year old son. Keep up the good work!

Back in the 50s there was a converted American-LaFrance truck with a Allison or Rolls-Royce aircraft engine installed in it that ran produce from the Yakima Valley of Washington State to Southern California and ran produce from California back to Washington. This truck was a legend and for years I have heard stories about it. like Burning a set of rear ends out on almost every trip. And of course being able to outrun every other rig on the road and on and on.
Does anyone remember this truck. Can you add to the stories and even come up with a picture of it.
Another legend was Bill Liberty who ran his famous Black Cat rig from California to Victoria BC hauling produce for the Chinese restaurant produce suppliers in Victoria. he was well know and ran until the 70s. Anyone remember him? Pictures maybe???

I enjoyed your photos of White Trucks... I put myself through college working on the dock for Quinn Freight Lines who used White Trucks exclusively... Except for the last trucks they purchased which were Fords... The Fords put them out of the business... I Farm on a part time basis..
Recently I puchased a 1977 White Road Boss 1... It was an old Shanahan Express Tractor... I stretched the frame approx. 3 feet and added a Midwest 14 ft. grain dump... Painted it Quinn colors,,, Red, with a green stripe and white on the top... Added a big Chrome front Bumper..
Looks great and runs the same.

Been told we got a Peterbuilt to team drive...WAHOO!
I would also like to pinch a moving truck pic for my own homepage at the above URL....which needs renovating. I have away for awhile I was the On-set transport coordinator for the movie The Lord Of The Rings which has just finished filming here. Thanks for being generous with the pics and sharing your life experiences and passions. We love cars trucks and trains. We nearly bought a share in a steam train last year in Kingston near Queenstown NZ it was an Ab class that was being restored after lying in a creek for 60 years. Feel free to give us a call sometime before we leave at the end of the month.

Found your site by search engine. A friend of mine is restoring a 1950 White Mustang and was trying to find some info and came up with your site. I own a Kenworth K100 with CAT 3408 engine, I believe only about 20 V8 CATs were installed in Australian KWs, mainly for hauling 3 trailer road-trains at 115 tons gross weight in the Northern Territory. The engines are 18 liters or 1100 cubic inches, big mothers! I haul two 45' trailers to Perth WA, a round trip of 4400 miles.

I grew up around trucks, although I dont drive for a living, my love for trucks is still strong. One of the trucks my dad owned was a 1970 Mack (Log truck). In 1970 or 71 it hauled the Jaycee log across the states. The dealer in Eugene that we bought the truck from had a picture of it on his wall. It was Red White and Blue with stars and stripes. Im still searching for a copy of this picture. Am also interested in picture of mid 60's Kenworth, as I have just aquired one that I am going to restore.

Hi,
My dad and uncle worked for Lang Transportation Company in the 1930s. My father worked as a
driver and mostly as a mechanic. He was a foreman in the shop in Blythe, CA. I have a lot of
old pictures that I plan to scan and share with others. The trucks are all open cab.
Does anyone know what happened to Lang Transportation? I know that the owner was Mike Lang
and I think the company became Pacific Intermountain Express. I still have some Lang letterhead
stationary. I believe Mike Lang was a early entrepreneur in Los Angeles.
Best Regards,
Jim Wheeler
Your page is the first trucking website I have seen. Keep up the good work.

Great site! A love trucks, trains and buses, so your site was a great find. I really enjoy the photos of fallen flag truck lines. I used to drive back to the midwest every summer and couldn't get enough of the trucks on old Route 66. I'm also interested in photos of old truck stops showing what it was like before the advent of the giant truck plazas. If you know of any I'd like to hear from you. I also like anything Navajo.

This is the most fabulous website I've found. I've been hunting truck pictures for a couple of years and finally fell into this site almost by accident. Thanks for the hard work of getting it going. I hope you'll have energy to keep it up.
I finally found the UPS cab over the wheels and not much more and fount it was a Peterbilt. I actually saw and photographed one from a distance, but couldn't identify the make. Very odd looking pie
