The web site was back up last night and Google didn't report any attacks. So we are safe again.

I have been working with my support people to prevent this from happening again. Thank you for all your patience while this was getting resolved.

This particular video is an '07 379 C15 ACERT. There were no codes or warning lights on this truck.

The '09 Cascadia with a Series 60 was all messed up, haha. IIRC, the regen light was flashing, CEL was on, and the jakes wouldn't work. And it didn't sound as good either. grin

Interesting. I thought they were setup with sensors that made sure you were not bypassing the DPF. Its going to be a while before the emission system problems are ironed out. Hopefully a few years after 2010 (2012/13) engineers will know this technology like the back of their hand and we will have less problems.

I briefly spoke to a guy from Europe who told me to get the strait pipe sound they put a bypass pipe around the SCR catalyst with a butterfly valve to control the bypass setup. Not all of the exhaust is bypassed, something like 20-30% still flows through the catalyst. Otherwise, the sensors would detect the no flow situation as a problem and de-rates the engine power.

I don't know how illegal it is over there (must vary from country to country) but I would hate to see how much it would cost you if you were caught doing it in the US.

Thaddeus,it is very illegal. In most countries either the roadtax or the toll you pay (this changes from country to country) is calculated via your EURO norm. Also some countries gave subsidy to get older , less "clean" trucks off the road.So if you disable the exhaust, they can do you for fraude. shocked shocked shocked

In the past i have driven with open an exhaust truck and the first day it is fun.The 3° day you want to shoot the truck. angry angry angry angry

I have no problem with a quiet truck so not a issue for me. grin grin grin grin

I figured as much. The butterfly valve is there to switch the truck from illegal to legal mode grin. So when you need to get an inspection or just don't feel like listening to the exhaust all day you turn the valve off and let the full exhaust flow pass through the catalyst & muffler.

And I will say it again, Europe had the best idea for coercing owners to switch to newer cleaner trucks. Charge more road tax for older rigs. The morons here in the USA (especially CARB) just plans to outright ban on older trucks effectively putting small businesses in a dangerous position of having to buy a new truck. That could put some small businesses out of business. A road tax that gradually increases over the span of a few years as the emission level keeps getting more and more out of date would encourage the business to plan ahead for purchasing a new truck.
