The web site was back up last night and Google didn't report any attacks. So we are safe again.

I have been working with my support people to prevent this from happening again. Thank you for all your patience while this was getting resolved.

IIRC a truck went through a women's home on 209, and that started the ban on big trucks. Women was not hurt, but the house was pretty well demolished in the front. The truck went right across the front porch taking most of the front of the house with it.

I remember when I was a kid the 76 truckstop at Interstate-40 and Highway 109 east of Nashville. That was 35 years ago and was like a vacation for me when my dad would take me by and stop to let me look around. I know somewhere there has got to be a picture of it cause I sure would like to see it.

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust if it wasn't for those " Bad Ass Peterbilts " the Hammer Lane would rust.

The 76 in Bartonsville had a great reputation for good food. Going to college in Scranton '72 - '76, it was one of the best places to chow down in themiddle of the night.

First trucking company I worked for used to haul fuel to the 76 in Bloomsbury, NJ from the Atlantic fuel terminal in Fullerton [Allentown], PA...Super diesel was 6000 gal #2 and 1000 gal Kero plus additive...When we brought gas in the high test needed 5 gal of additives poured down first. They had a little shed w/ the additives and we had to give the driver the key when we brought in a load of Super Diesel or hightest [leaded] gas...

Reg Diesel & the reg grades of gas were direct from Atlatntic Richfield's pipeline that they shared w/ Gulf...Shell, Texaco, BP & Agway all came off the Buckeye pipe in Macungie...

Yes, many of them are. They just have TA signage now. If you go inside, though, you can see the tell-tale signs of it being an old 76.

Bushkill, Dingmans Ferry or Milford?

Truck traffic has been banned on 209 for a few decades now...

The National Park Service began the rule of no trucks along the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on US 209 in August 1983. The bill was passed by President Ronald Reagan on the 1st of the month.[29] It was projected to begin in April 1983, but the bill was delayed 180 days.[30] In 1995, commercial vehicles began running in the area again, as long as they pay fee at two toll booths, one in Bushkill and one just south of downtown Milford.[31] Prices began in 1995 and charged from $3.00 for 2-axles to $18.00 for 5 or more axles.[15]

I went inside the Canton Ohio TA a few years ago, which is an old 76, and it was like stepping back in time as nothing seemed to have changed, at least in the store area.

Back in '06 i drove up to WIldwood FL when we took a Disney Vacation, and I couldn't believe TA didn't bother to paint at least the entire front when they did the makeover.  There was still orange and brown paint on the facade.

Heck, at the Canton loaction there was a sign on the door leading to the truck lot from the store that said basically no one past this point except "truck crews". I tend to think that was an old term. It was in the colors of the various signs found in 76 truckstops. The sign was still up in late '02, the last time I went in there. You're right, it was like stepping back in time.

Many still have the gold lettered "Men" and "Women" above the restrooms in the gold letters. Some of the counters and restaurant areas are also very much untouched. Hurricane, WV is one example. The spiral staircase is still there as well.

I know the one @exit 267, I 55 in Illinois just below Chicago was supposed to be the only one TA didn't buy. I remember the TA guide for 1998 listing it that way, at least. It wasn't taking the TABB points or anything, and was holding onto its 76 identity. It's now the I 55 Truckstop or Stop 55, something like that. Pretty run down from what I saw.

The I 55 truckstop I believe is now the Exit 267 truckstop. It's been awhile, maybe someone can confirm?

^There's still a sign like that on I-90 in PA just before the New York line. The 76 ball is gone but it still says auto/truck stop. There's also  one on I-75 in Kentucky but I don't remember which exit, I think it's now a Merit.
