On May 28, 2009 you may have noticed that the Forum was in maintenance mode for quite a while. Well it is a long story. But I won't bore you with all the details. The short of it is that I needed to apply an upgrade to the Forum software and there was a bug in the process. After trying many different methods to get it to work, I gave up and put the Forum back online.

Then today (May 29, 2009), I did some more research and found a workaround for the "bug". Now the Forum if properly upgraded and things appear to be okay again.

Thank you for your patience.

He only paid me that way because I have my own corporation. He looked and tried a couple of guys (one actually had a problem with the job being "too much work" before he found someone to do it.  Full deductions for him. It sucks that multi-decade  experienced drivers have to take under-paying jobs and keep the average wage for city work down. I'd be interested in hearing Raf's opinion (and others in this market in S. Ontario). I still think that people only look for advertised jobs and consider the big courier companies hard-to-get. I've often said that the easiest way to find a good job it to be on the road asking guys about openings. Again, because the good jobs don't require advertising to be filled.

Most of the big Courier companies hire their own employees from the 'floor' and train them for their class A before looking to outside applicants. That is what makes it hard to get those jobs. You can't beat the job security and benefits you get with courier companies, which is why the Purolator LCV works out. How many trucking companies pay hourly wages to do Linehaul like courier companies? Almost none.

Very true...for the most part! Good jobs don't need to be advertised, your best form of advertising/recruiting is existing staff members. Some good jobs do get shopped/advertised just so that the people doing the hiring can get a broader spectrum of who is available though.
