The web site was back up last night and Google didn't report any attacks. So we are safe again.
I have been working with my support people to prevent this from happening again. Thank you for all your patience while this was getting resolved.

well had my road test yesterday and like everything in my life screws up because i was trained on a 13 spd and kriska gave me 10 spd and i was shifting it like a 13 after getting to 4th i push the button at the front of the shifter up to high but find out later on a 10 the button comes up after 5th gear and thats why i could not get in 5th. but any ways my question is do most of the big companies use 10 spd if so then why are the training schools useing 13spd.

Dude , STUDY STUDY STUDY.... If you can't operate a 10 speed your in poo poo.. I am not trying to bring you down but ya, most bigger fleets are 10 speeds. You try calling the TransX acadamy? lotsa miles and trainning. Go to roadranger.com and search the shift patterns it could help a little.
Call Reimer Express as well, loot's owner op's doing Vancouver team runs. You might find a guy willing to take a newbie.
Hope it all works out for you man.

I agree, dont take this the wrong way but its hard to believe you would have a hard time with a 10 speed if you know 13 speed well enough. What driving school did you go to that had a 13 speed? all the driving schools including humber use 10 speeds

10 speed = 5 + 5. 1,2,3,4,5, flip switch up 6,7,8,9,10. Down shift 10,9,8,7,6 flip switch down 5,4,3,2,1.
1&6 share a hole, 2&7, 3&8, 4&9 and 5&10. It is the easiest manual transmission to operate since the Mack 5 speeds.
After 17 years of driving 9 speeds I have to admit switching to a 10 was difficult in that I kept forgetting to bring the shifter all the way over and back as 1st is a hole by itself in most 9 speeds. 1/X, 2/6, 3/7, 4/8, 5/9.
The Ryder units that I drove with 10speeds, were geared so that even with 40,000# on I could start from a dead start in 3rd and with just a little roll I could start in 4th.

We had this topic somewhere in the past, but no, 15-speeds are pretty well extinct now.
I believe Pat commented back then that Eaton/Fuller still catalogues it, but it's not chosen that much.
Originally it was used where heavier loads were being pulled - the 5 lowest ratios were somewhat lower than LOW section's were.
And it was almost always spec'd behind big power engines - until the advent of the 18-speed, a transmission which can be likened to a 13-speed with a Deep Reduction section of 5 more.

Talking about 15 speed I was surprised to see an ad for an 03 columbia with a 15 speed in the truck news the other day. I think some are still around for some heavier work, Ive seen a few FLD daycabs at ryder with 15's in them, they are 03's I think

i think teaching him on a 13 is a great idea, if you can run a 13 then an 18 is no problem. As far as a 10, its the same as 13 without the 4 splits in high range. And a 15 is just a 10 with 5 deep reduction gears that you rarely/never use, and an 18 is a 13 with deep reduction that never/rarely get used. I have run them all and I still look at the chart in a new truck just so I know the selection before I get on the road!

I'm sure you meant to say 9 speed right?

Haha, yeah something like that
Either way look at the shift pattern 1st and save yourself problems when you pull onto the road. Thanks for keeping me on my toes Snafu, you knew what I meant none the less
I hate 9 speeds anyway!!! Oh and if its a Super 10, you really need to study the chart 1st, they are a whole different animal in the beginning!
