This was when they were trying to get traffic moving over Spring Creek hill on I-84 west of La Grande. The road was so slick that there were countless accidents and they were trying to get people out of the way. There were three trucks in accidents on my side going down the hill and I sat for 4 1/2 hours. I had a front row seat to all the action for a while.

These were all taken on December 20, 2007

Here is some plow action along I-84
Shot near La Grande when the road [ I-84 ] was closed eastbound yesterday.
Here are some more random shots from yesterday.
This is what I got to watch them clean up for several hours!

Here are some photos I shot out the windshield of that aftermath of Oregon NOT taking care of I-84 in the winter!
Here is another victim of the Oregon roads. I could shoot so many more of these if the daylight came a little sooner! This one is by Baker City. Here are two photos shot less than a minute apart in Oregon and crossing the bridge over the Snake River into Idaho. Note the two very different road conditions and this has been happening all winter. Funny how we trudge along through the ice at 35MPH and as soon as we cross the border into Idaho we can bring it up to 65MPH! Funny thing is Idaho is east of Oregon and therefor received the same storm later than Oregon did but always manages to clear the snow first!
These were more photos from Dec 20 near La Grande that I snapped with my film camera. This is from my last roll of film!
Winter is back. Here is the scene last night (March 16, 2008), when I waited 5 3/4 hours for them to clean up a haz mat spill when Yellow flipped a rear pup on the ice near North Powder. You can see the glare on the road. The first cop responding ended up in the median himself. Several of us had close calls just before this incident occurred as it froze up quickly.
Penske Volvo sleeper that Roadway has so they can pull triples in Oregon. This shot is one that got caught in the snow on top of Cabbage and actually has chains on!
Here is a rebranded Priority tractor and doubles chaining on top of Cabbage Hill on I-84 east of Pendleton.
Another Old Dominion unit chaining on Cabbage
Here is a shot of my tractor with chains taken on March 22, 2008

Photos taken during a bad week of winter weather in February

November 2008

You know it's not going to be a good day in the mountains when this particular truck is heading out the gate!

I-5 was closed for several hours the other day and the push truck helped get things back to normal as far as traffic flow of freight into Oregon from California!
