Some of the joys of winter driving in the mountains Dave chaining up his USF Reddaway Freightliner FLD on top of Cabbage

All new Reddaway International Rocky Mountain Double shot in Boise on Saturday (December 16, 2006)
Note the peddle Reddaway uses for the Jake Brake Here are some tractors in Boise
Some interior shots of a KW T-800
Here is one of the KWs chaining on Snoqualmie Pass the other night. Heading eastbound at "The 47" as we call it referring to where the chainup area is. There are also chainup areas at 45 and on a bad night 34! Here is the other shot of the KW with chains. A shot showing why it's the 47 and the overhead reader board that most people never get to see!
You know you had a bad night when your trailer looks like this one here in the middle! Here are some shots I got the chance to take on February 6, 2007 in La Grande, OR.
Rebuilt dolly with new style wheels Dave's truck taken at Pilot in Stanfield, OR Reddaway KW taken at the Pasco, WA terminal
My tractor with mixed sets of Reddaway and Bestway trailers. The snow shot shows an old Viking trailer Bestway bought years back. More chain-up pictures of Dave's FLD
Another USF Reddaway FLD leaving the chain-up area Last shot I took today (02/23/2007) before heading over the hill!
My tractor with mixtures of Bestway and Reddaway trailers.
Here are a couple shots of tandem tractors. The COE was on Snoqualmie Pass last week in the chain up area behind me. The conventional was on a calendar with RMDs a few hundred thousand miles ago!
New tandem axle with only about 3000 miles on it
Last years version of International at Boise
Night shots in Boise
Here are a couple more Reddaway/Bestway mixes. I hand picked that nasty front box on the doubles while hooking empties this morning (March 11, 2007) in Tacoma. The rear pup is one of the last true Bestway pups and is numbered just before our "white" pups. The old one may have come from Willig. Shot the triples in Boise last night and the front trailer there was a 1997 model. All three trailers were Strick which was rare! Shot this last night (March 10, 2007) in Boise
New Reddaway pups taken at Yellow in Chicago. Brian Clark Collection. Another example of mismatch trailers we get to pull now. Now they are mixing more gray wheels into the mix as well.
Multiple shots of Reddaway 8-1200 with triples
This is the first pup from the new order being delivered now to hit the yard in Seattle. Note the Reddaway ex Bestway ex-Dugan rear pup. Check out the nice logo on the ex-Dugan, ex-Bestway, Reddaway pup I had on the lead the other night. Photos taken at the top of Snoqualmie Pass.
Bestway trailer that came from Viking. This is a Comet and you can see the blue Viking lettering bleeding through the paint near the USF logo. Here is the new expansion at the Kent terminal
Lufkin and Wabash pups at the Seattle dock. The Wabash is a former Viking pup as well. Not sure where the Lufkin came from but that was a Texas trailer builder so I am figuring Big State Freight.
Here is my tractor at the top of Snoqualmie Pass the other night on a trip where I pulled a Yellow pup. The rear trailer was an old Bestway that was an original TNT Pilot pup still with spoke wheels!
Here is the Moses Lake terminal and a tandem axle city unit. This was one of the last line tractors for TNT United. This terminal was once the Milne terminal. My tractor with an old 35' United trailer on front and a 1989 Lufkin pup for Bestway on the back.
Reddaway Freightliner's taken at Three Forks, MT. Steven Johnson Collection. Reddaway trailers taken at Three Forks, MT. Steven Johnson Collection.
Here is a shot a friend took while waiting for trailers in Hermiston last year. This Reddaway Freightliner was the one I drove as mine was in for service. Reddaway International was out front with the Bestway pups so I figured it was worth a shot.
Here is my tractor hooked to a set with an empty 35' rear box. I had two new trailers the other day (both built in 3/07) Here is a newer tractor and the highest number in the fleet (has about 100,000 miles) and they brought it to Seattle for a photo shoot but wouldn't let any of us drive it except back to Portland when they were done! It went back to California.
Dave's Freightliner taken at Ritzville, WA Another shot of the Bestway Freightliner FLD-112 tractor taken in Seattle Peterbilt with 35' rear trailer ready to hit the streets for P&D
Here is the first Bestway tractor to make it to Seattle!
Here is a trailer that they must have run out of the proper logos to rebrand. It's a former Dugan pup with Bestway lettering.
Here is a Bestway tractor rebranded into Reddaway. It's a 2000 FLD-112 with a Cummins ISM engine. Shot at Burlington, WA.

Here is a comparison between my tractor (2000 FLD) and a 2000 Bestway FLD
Former Bestway 2448 at Kent, WA with doubles
Here are two examples of the trailer rebranding that has started this past week. The white decal with Reddaway name was placed over the Bestway name without first removing the Bestway name. The other was a Dugan trailer that only had sported USF before and now has the Reddaway name as well.
Here are some shots of some of the first Wabash pups to enter our fleet. Two of these were just dropped off by Yellow when I took the photos.
They are very similar to Yellow pups.
Here is a shot I posed last weekend of a former Bestway T-600 hooked to triples This is actually a 1993 model and I think maybe it is an old Viking tractor. They had a group of T-600s they bought that year that had this style grille and mirrors.
Here is the RMD that pulled up behind the Roadway 9400
This RMD pulled up as soon as the orange tractor left with his RMDs!
This Yellow 9400 pulled in while the rest of the RMDs and Roadway 9400 were still in the yard!
Here are some shots I took with a full moon over Cabbage Hill Some tractors at the hotel in Boise
Here is a night shot of an RMD in Boise These were shot in Hermiston the same day as the Boise photos. It was 106 outside at 7PM!
Here are a few old Bestway tractors at Reddaway's Portland terminal. I never knew they had any Fords!
Here are some Reddaway Fords for comparison at Burlington, WA
Not often I get matching Bestway trailers! This was at Yakima. Here is an oddball Bestway trailer with America's Road Team logo
Here is my tractor hooked to two loaded reefers full of wine. The front reefer was built in 1998 and the rear was built in 1997. These are probably the last reefers we will be buying. Shot at Prosser, WA at sunrise. This is what the terminal looks like now on the 40 door expansion
You can see the rebranding process is moving along here at Reddaway
Here are some 4400s for comparison. The one with the orange bumper and black frame came from Bestway (Dugan?).
These were taken at Reddaway's The Dalles, OR terminal. Steve Johnson Collection.
Reddaway triples eastbound on I-84 along the Columbia Gorge. Steve Johnson Collection.
Here is the progress to the addition to the terminal in Kent

Some shots of some new Reddaway Internation Pro Star's taken by Jim Morgan and Jon Adams
Here is another new truck in Portland. Photos taken by Jim Morgan. Westbound Reddaway triples traveling along I-84 in the Columbia Gorge. Steve Johnson Photo.
Westbound Reddaway Freightliner with triples traveling along I-84 in the Columbia Gorge. Steve Johnson Photo. Reddaway truck with million mile award decal at Kent, WA. Here is an old Dugan city unit with a 48' at Tacoma.
Here is my tractor hooked to a Holland trailer that was in our yard. It's an old Red Star Vanco 48' with pintle hook.
This is the same Bestway KW that keeps surfacing at our terminal. It's a 1993 model with 150,000 on the odometer but I think it's been around the million mark maybe twice? Sure looks like it anyhow! This is a linehaul spare unit!
Here is the first snow of winter 2007/2008. Snoqaulmie Pass. Westbound Reddaway Freightliner with triples taken along I-84 in the Columbia Gorge. Steve Johnson Photo.
Shot these in Medford Saturday morning (November 24, 2007). The 8239 tractor is a nenumbered Bestway unit.
Here is the tractors parked for just the layover drivers on a busy Saturday in Medford. There are always the constant flow of drivers turning out of northern California as well
Here is another repowered Bestway unit with a new Reddaway number.
Reddaway International with Safe Driver Award
Ready line photos in Medford. You can see the tractor parked by the triples is a Bestway unit with short hood and slightly different airshield.

Here are some night photos from Portland.
Here are some chain photos from the last week. This side shot of my set was at the top of Cabbage Hill. My set was taken at Easton, WA on I-90 this morning (December 15, 2007).
