Roadway photos taken from exit 224 as a sleeper and triples top the hill. Photos taken in 2003.
Here are some shots of a new Volvo sleeper for Roadway taken in May 2004. These may be some of the last tractors for Roadway delivered in the blue and orange paint as they are going to a solid royal blue paint scheme. Note the black paint on the grille of this unit has peeled off and it gives it an odd look.
Theis photo shows a newer Volvo sleeper that have the new walkin sleeper that is required by the latest Master Freight contract. These triples were heading westbound and were shot near Ontario, OR. Western triples tractors have normally had a grey painted bumper and a "W" (Triples Tractor West") decal on the doors and bumper. This tractor was "Jiffed up" with a Jifflox dolly and pulling a rental trailer along I-84 in Idaho. Roadway Volvo triples tractors. The bobtail was shot in Chehalis, WA and is an Eastern triples tractor designated with the "E"(Triples Tractor East) decal on the doors and bumper. These also have permit numbers on the drivers side for the Ohio and Indiana turnpikes. Taken on July 6, 2004.

Photo taken on Three Mile Hill about 20 miles from Ontario, OR on October 14. Battle of the 100,000 loads! I was able to get around the Roadway and the sugar beet truck and Roadway was trying to get around as well. ALl this as we were running about 25 MPH! I can't think if the sugar beet hauler is Transervice or Transystem. They run those 40/24 hoppers loaded at about 102,000 all during the fall and then disappear until late the next summer.
These two shots are of a new Roadway Express blue Volvo VN single axle with mixed doubles. The tractor is also a 3 million miler assigned to that particular driver. Taken in Minooka,IL 10/22/04. Here is a shot of one of the two Christina’s Smile trailers. The tractor is dedicated to that trailer, inside of the trailer is a fully equipped 3 station dental clinic. Normally Roadway does not use the solid blue tractors for public displays. These pictures were taken on 6/25/05 at the DuPage County Department of Health parking lot. The 48’ is used in the local P&D operation in Chicago Heights (note the nose designation 309 P&D). Roadway supplies equipment and instructors to the Job Corp facility in Morganfield, Kentucky. Both photos were taken at the Chicago Heights terminal. Since the closure of the Chicago (51st. Street) terminal Chicago Heights (309) has been renamed the Chicago terminal.
