Pilot Freight Carriers International with a Schuster trailer, taken in Wallington, CT. Schuster was a carrier from Colchester, CT that Pilot purchased in 1984. The trailer is an old Inland Express trailer. Russ MacNeil has several Inland Express photos. Inland was from Syracuse, NY and was purchased by Schuster in about 1980.
Here is a rare picture of a Pilot White with a set of mixed doubles. The picture is rare because Pilot didn't have many trailers that were cut down from long boxes. It is possible that these trailers were 45-foot trailers at one time. This picture was also shot in Wallingford, CT.
This picture of the TNT Pilot White with long trailer was shot while Dave drove for them in 1986. The picture was taken at their Chicopee, MA terminal.
Here is a photo of the first set of doubles I ever drove. I drove this from Spingfield, Mass to Albany, NY in April 1988. Photo was at the Pilot terminal in Chicopee, MA.
Pilot Freight Carriers Ford showing another variation of their colors on the tractor and the first TNT influenced trailers before they actually put the TNT label on them. The trailer was a reefer. Pilot had almost all Diamond T early on and was used in many Diamond T advertisements. This picture is from a Diamond T advertisement.

This was a standard dolly used for 28' doubles in TNT Pilot's operation. This dolly may have been purchased used from McLean when they closed in 1986. Note the unpainted dolly in the background which is identical to this one. Here is a Boone single axle dolly for turnpike doubles. Note the much heavier frame. This was also used by Pilot but was used for turnpike doubles across I-90. This was a tandem dolly used by Pilot for turnpike doubles. This wasn't used as often as they were a pain to move around and impossible to move by hand.

Pilot 3208 was an oddball. Rebuilt from a wreck with a glider kit this was painted in the original colors as TNT had sold Pilot. Only a handful of these Whites were painted white.
