These two pictures of East Texas Motor Freight Fords were taken in Texas in January 1981.
The East Texas Motor Freight White 7400 were the first cab over tractors for them with the movement to 42ft. trailers in some states. Their motto was "Joins the Gulf and the Great Lakes." Don Querciagrossa Collection.
East Texas Motor Freight was a very rich LTL carrier and they purchased an entirely new road tractor fleet every 4 years. There was extensive press about the purchases not only because of the size but also because they were very highly spec'd tractors. With an order of 350 in the late 60's you could get about anything you wanted. Notice the high neck on the fuel tank and the sump to collect water. Special Farr air cleaners behind cab. Tractors all had Lincoln centralized lubrication system. Notice also the early use of AC. Joe Wanchura Collection.
Typical ETMF tractor from the 70's. The small door decal indicates ETMF Freight System. Only original ETMF logo is below the head lead. Notice the advertising "Direct to Phoenix" on P&D trailer parked next to the tractor. Photograph taken 1977 at Rock Island, IL terminal that ETMF obtained with purchase of Lee American. Don Querciagrossa Collection.

Here is an ETMF photo. This was a promo photo and the group of tractors used before the Ford CL-9000s they bought in 1980. Must be a 1977 model?
