Merchants was the predecessor to Admiral Merchants and operated extensively between Denver and Cleveland, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, St. Paul and point in between. The former owner who sold Merchants purchased Murphy Motor Freight and used the same two tone green color scheme. It is believed that when Merchants converted to diesel, they purchased 115 of the KW half cabs to save weight. Many states only allowed 62,000 and that was the reason for the single tired pusher axle. Fred Gruin has several photographs on his site of equipment going and coming from Cleveland. This picture is from the Joe Wanchura collection. | |

| Admiral Merchants operated with all sleeper cabs in the 60's. Mainly White 5000 and then 7000's along with some International COF4000's. They then purchased a fleet of White 4000's that they operated for almost ten years. Later they would purchase used Yellow Freights from their 3 year trade program. Don Querciagrossa Collection. | Admiral Merchants was a classic with their unique livery. The Kenworth in this photograph was purchased used as a three year old Yellow Freight trade.
