Front cover of a book received on my first ride on a CNR passenger train in 1961. CN GMD1u 1431 is a long way from it's Winnipeg MB home. Here it is switching the CN yard in Oakville Ontario on Sunday Feb.18 2001. It is in the Ford of Canada section of the yard switching the Windstar plant. These two pictures are from the Robert Archer Collection.

SD40-2, class GF-30v, built in 1973.This enging was purchased from UP in 1994 (UP 4099). For a short time this engine carried number CN 6099 while still in UP yellow paint. It was re-numbered to present number in 1994 or 1995. This is one of the trailing units in the stack trail above.

CN Rail GP9RM, class: GY-418a taken in the 80's at their Port Mann Yards in Surrey, BC. I actually got to operate this engine. That was a thrill.
The bridge in the photos is the Port Mann Bridge with is the Trans Canada Highway crossing over the Fraser River between Surrey and Port Coquitlam, BC.
