My great grandfather, Nathan Carter, started Carter Manufacturing Co. in 1927 in Memphis TN. He invented the Corrugated Trailer back in the 1930's I believe. His company was sold to Fruehauf on February 28, 1947. The company was called Fruehauf-Carter from 1947 until 1958.
My grandfather, W D Evans, ran the Fruehauf plant from the mid 1950's until 1976 when he past away.
Nathan Carter Jr. left Fruehauf in 1954 and started the Arrow Equipment Company. Arrow was sold to Great Dane in 1972. Great Dane made all of their flat beds out of the old Arrow plant from 1972 until 2006. My great grandfather was a founder and president of the Truck Trailers Manufacturers Association (TTMA)
