H Y Louie (Est 1903)

Founded on East Georgia Street before moving to Taylor Street and later to Lake City in Burnaby

H Y Louie provided wholesale grocery supplies to their Cash & Carry Locations and also IGA Stores until 2016. Ted Green was a senior long time driver and drove the Hope- Princeton from the fifties until he retired in 1975. He started running a 1955 V-Liner International gaspot to the Okanagan until it was replaced with this fine 1960 Kenworth, 220 Cummins with 5X3.

The off road at 26 Mile was a result of over-plowing which was common during winters of heavy snow on the Hope-Princeton. Ted named this spot Green’s Gulch.

Ted Green retired in 1975 and passed away soon afterwards.
