PRESS RELEASE August 26, 2009. MacKinnon and LE Walker Join Forces MacKinnon Transport Inc., one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, announced today it has acquired the St. Thomas, Ontario- based Walker Group of companies, which consists of LE Walker Transport Ltd. and Mid America Freight Systems Ltd. Both companies are major players in the dry van and flatbed marketplaces in North America.

MacKinnon's foray into the dry van truck load business did not go well. They were forced to seek Creditor Protection in 2011. Contrans agreed to buy the dry van business including trailers and hire some of the owner operators under their Laidlaw Van LP divison.

This picture from June 2012 shows a Laidlaw tractor pulling a MacKinnon trailer.

MacKinnon remained in business but they are, once again, primarily a flat deck carrier.

December 1 2017 saw the end of MacKinnon Transport.
It was sold to CONTRANS and the operations folded into Laidlaw’s Guelph terminal.
